Free Music Notes for Careless LoveFree Music Review: Nice, but not dazzling Hit: 3 StarsI enjoyed this album. The title cut is the one real winner here. As a devout Billie Holiday fan, I appreciated the fact that despite Ms. Peyroux's voice being very similar she doesn't really try to imitate.
Would recommend to those looking for something soothing and relaxing.
Free Music Review: It's just my opinion ! Hit: 5 StarsHypnotic in the most beautiful way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought " Dreamland " immediately after this !
Free Music Review: Thank Goodness for Casual Carpool Hit: 5 StarsI had the wonderful opportunity to hear this album on the way to "the city" one day. Heard it, loved it, and bought it. Her voice is a melodic wonder dancing with a classic instrumental jazz line. Thank goodness for random people that pick you up, take you to work, and share their good tastes in music.
Free Music Review: Beautiful, compelling, sophisticated and blue. Hit: 5 Stars The beautiful-moody sounds of the end of an unstable love afair. The sophisticated croonings of a romantic poet. Ms. Peyroux has a beautiful and natural gift, let us thank the heavens that she chose to share it with the whole world.
Love,Peace and beauty

Free Music Review: Sensual and colorful Hit: 4 StarsIn this recent cd, Madeline Peyroux defines herself more as a stylish singer, handling material with consistent emotional color. Her cover of Leonard Cohen's "Dance me to the end of love" gives a romantic womanly cynical twist in contrast to Cohens' dry stark version.
Most hear the echoes of Billie Holiday in her rose-colored vowels and her dark-chocolate intonations. She has a folk-inspired jazz sensibility that seems to fill a void in the current jazz-vocal scene that is unimaginative.
Madeline does a sultry performance, encouraging a following that appreciate mature depth in contemporary female vocals. Her style has several influences and is difficult to peg down.
Ironically the 'real" person doesn't go for all the hoopla, and runs literally away from her success. She spent years as a street singer in Paris, which is why her sound is so sincere and at home in itself. Her music has almost a folksy jug- band quality at times. Her influences are Parisian ,New Orleans etc.
At first listen I couldn't dismiss the "Holiday" influence dominating her sound, but time did ammend this.I now listen to her without the nagging ghost of "Billie". I am hearing Madeline.
