This is a great voice. We could end the review there. However, some people knock Maddy for sounding like Billie Holiday.Would you knock an up and coming basketball player because they play too much like Michael Jordan?Of course not. Ms.Peyroux does not do Billie material. She does not use a similar band. She is not a 'period' revivalist. Look at the wide swatch of material she covers on this cd. Note too, the use of Charles Giordano,master of all things with keys. (See the Springsteen "Live in Dublin" video) Musically, this is a voice that calms and refreshes like hot chocolate on a cold winters morn. Yum.
