Free Music Notes for Confessions on a Dance FloorFree Music Review: I'm Going To Tell You A 5 Stars
I have waited months and months and months for this CD, as I do for all her music. As soon as I heard that it was going to be a continuous dance CD with NO ballads I was ecstatic! I was a bit tired of the acoustic/techno sound that dominated her last 2 CD's (Music and American Life).
This CD lives up to everything I had hoped for and more! Madonna has ALWAYS been the LEADER not the follower has always been the TRENDSETTER.....This CD (like all her others) is very evident of that. This is pure dance music with lyrics that have more than just the superficial meanings that most dance music that fill the clubs have. Catchy hooks, great beats, great verses....all with a unique sound that only Madonna can pull off!
HUNG UP is just awesome! SO infectious! Great sample in it with lyrics that will have you singing it all day, everyday! 10/10
GET TOGETHER is a good dance/trance song with good lyrics and great sounds going on in the background. 9/10
SORRY is one of my favorites on the CD. SO catchy and sure to be a SMASH in the clubs and has a very radio-friendly sound to it. LOVE IT!!!! 10/10
FUTURE LOVERS is another great dance/techno song that has a lot going on it that is just crying out to be danced to! Love all that is going on in this song....get's you really pumped up! 10/10
I LOVE NEW YORK is a great fusion of dance/rock. I must say the lyrics are a bit cheesy and too "fly by night" - this one may have to grow on me over time. Not a favorite on the CD. 6/10
LET IT WILL BE is a great song!!! People are saying in their reviews that it is a CD/floorfiller...I have to disagree. I think it is fun and is up to par with the rest of the songs on here. 9/10
FORBIDDEN LOVE is the slowest song on this CD. NOT a ballad but, a slow dance song. Not too fond of it......Does not seem to fit in right at this spot in the CD. Other then where it falls on the CD it is not a horrible song.....maybe should have been at the end?? 7/10
JUMP has VERY infectious lyrics! You see a song title like "Jump" and you think it is going to be just loud and club bumpin' but this one is more tame than I expected. But, I guess I judged the book by its cover or in this case the song by its title. LOL GREAT SONG! 10/10
HOW HIGH is amazing!!! LOVE IT! Talking about her fame and if it matters and how hard she tried just to see her name up in lights. Great beats and great synths. 10/10
ISAAC is different. I don't know how else to word that. I like the male chanting in it - that is catchy, along with the beat. Might have to be another that grows on me with time. 8/10
PUSH is my absolute favorite on this CD!! I don't even know what to classify it as. It's not dance. It's pop/R&B?? Whatever it is it is GREAT!!! I love the beat and her vocals. The meaning is great as well. The melody in which she sings sample the Tom Tom Club - GREAT SONG!!! 10/10
LIKE IT OR NOT is a cool way to close the CD. Lay all your songs out there and then simple say "like it or not" THE END! I like it. 9/10
Madonna is always on top of her game and never seems to age. I have been an avid since I bought her first RECORD LOL! This CD really reminds me of early Madonna. I have loved Madonna through the years and through all of her changes. Like I said she has always been the LEADER and the TRENDSETTER! She has paved the way for everyone!!! Paved the way for the "club mix"! This CD is astonishing and will have you on your feet and wanting to go to the nearest club! It is a must have for EVERYONE!!!! :)
Free Music Review: Don't pay attention to these biased 1 star reviews ... this album rocks!!! Hit: 5 Stars
There are so many good ratings here for this album, I thought mine wouldn't make a difference, but since I acknowledged some desperate Mariah Carey's fans have united with the mission to bombard radio stations, internet sites and everything else with messages denigrating Madonna and her latest work, I thought "What the heck ... let me give the gal a positive counterweight!"
I'll give you my personal yet true opinion about the songs in this album:
HUNG UP: Sticky as glue. Easy lyrics and powerful beats, and it's all about having fun. But you know that, already. It's everywhere.
GET TOGETHER: Powerful beat too. There's a trance feeling to it and it makes you wanna close your eyes and dance smoothly to the sound of it. Great!
SORRY: Destined to be one of Madonna's new millennium successes. Beautiful lyrics and extremely catchy. Impossible not to sing along with it. If I didn't know already, I'd say this would have to be her next single. I dare you to identify each of the different languages she uses for saying "Forgive me" in this song.
FUTURE LOVERS: This is a weird song. It looks somewhat similar to "Impressive Instant" from her "Music" album. I guess it's one of those "love it" or "hate it" songs. The beat remains unstoppable, tough.
I LOVE NEW YORK: Well, all you new-yorkers out there, you'll just have to forgive me but I think this is the weakest song of them all. The beat is great but the lyrics ... aaaaargh!!! New York and dork, f* off and golf ... blargh!!! I hope this gets to be a sort of an anthem for New York's nightclubs, but I also hope this particular song doesn't see the light of day as an independent single.
LET IT WILL BE: Madonna tries to make a sort of a reflection about her life, here. She talks about the highs and the lows she has come to face, but, has she says, "Just watch me burn ... let it will be". Great song.
FORBIDDEN LOVE: Imagine a ballad which has been accelerated and remixed with a disco beat. This is best way to describe this song. I can't call it a ballad because there's a good beat in the background, but I guess it's the one song closer to that category throughout the album. Very nice.
JUMP: One of the most enthusiastic and optimistic songs I've heard in ages. I guess this is going to be her third single. It's impossible not to move to this song. Super!
HOW HIGH: Here Madonna recaptures her repressed will to talk about the values she has been continuously learning throughout her life. But don't worry ... this is no "American Life" remake. This time we have a great song that will make the delights of dancers everywhere. Beautiful!
ISAAC: "Frozen" with a beat. If you like spirituality inspired pop songs, this one is for you. Not very appropriate for dancing, but it's an ear's delight. The male voice singing in Hebrew in the background gives a sense of antiquity and of spirituality. Personally, I think it was very well achieved.
PUSH: The second weakest song in the album. The "You push me" sentence being repeated over and over again gets on my nerves. The message is nice, but the song is as catchy as water. I say I LOVE NEW YORK is worse only due to its poor lyrics, but this one follows suit. A nice message to her Guy, which should have stayed in their intimacy.
LIKE IT OR NOT: Madonna's usual slower and more reflexive song with which she uses to bring an end to her albums' repertoire. The beat here is slower and jazzier and she delievers a message to all you people out there ... "This is who I am, like it or not, you can love me, you can hate me, but I'm never ever gonna stop!" Very nice to listen to.
Overall, a fantastic album worth discovering. You will not be disappointed, I assure you.
Free Music Review: Confessions On A Dance Floor Hit: 5 Stars
Given the cold shoulder Madonna's 2003 album American Life received by critics and audiences alike -- it may have gone platinum, but it was her first album ever not to have a single enter the Billboard pop Top Ten (in fact, its title track barely cracked the Top 40) -- it's hard not to read its 2005 follow-up, Confessions on a Dance Floor, as a back-to-basics move of sorts: after a stumble, she's returning to her roots, namely the discos and clubs where she launched her career in the early '80s. It's not just that she's returning to dance music -- in a way, she's been making hardcore dance albums ever since 1998's Ray of Light, her first full-on flirtation with electronica -- but that she's revamping and updating disco on Confessions instead of pursuing a bolder direction. While it's true to a certain extent that contemporary dance music is still recycling and reinventing these songs -- besides, anything '80s is in vogue in 2005 -- coming from Madonna, it sounds like a retreat, an inadvertent apology that she's no longer on the cutting edge, or at least an admission that she's inching ever closer to 50. And no matter how she may disguise it beneath glistening layers of synths, or by sequencing the album as a non-stop party, Confessions on a Dance Floor is the first album where Madonna seems like a veteran musician. Not only is there a sense of conscious craft to the album, in how the sounds and the songs segue together, but in how it explicitly references the past -- both her own and club music in the larger sense -- the music seems disassociated from the present; Madonna is reworking familiar territory, not pushing forward, in a manner not dissimilar to how her former opening act the Beastie Boys returned to old-school rap on their defiantly old-fashioned 2004 album To the 5 Boroughs. But where the Beasties are buoyed by their camaraderie, Madonna has always been a stubborn individual, working well with collaborators but always, without question, existing on her own terms, and this obstinate nature is calcifying slightly into isolation on Confessions. There's no emotional hook in the music, either in its icy surface or in the lyrics, and the hard-headed intention to deliver a hardcore dance album means that this feels cold and calculated, never warm or infectious. Of course, Madonna has always been calculated in her career, often to great effect, and this calculation does pay off some dividends here. Taken on a purely sonic level, Confessions on a Dance Floor does its job: with the assistance of co-producer Stuart Price (Bloodshy & Avant produce two tracks, Mirwais produces one, while another was originally produced by Anders Baggee and Peer Astrom), she not only maintains the mood, but keeps the music moving nicely, never letting one track linger any longer than necessary. This is shimmering music falling just short of sexy, yet it's alluring enough on the surface to make for a perfect soundtrack for pitch-black nights. That's what the album was designed to do, and it works well on that level. It works well as a whole, but as a collection of individual tracks it falls apart, since there is a distinct lack of melodic or lyrical hooks. But Confessions wasn't intended to be pop music -- as the title makes clear, it was made for the dance clubs or, in other words, Madonna's core audience, who will surely be pleased by this sleek slice of style. But the fact that she's making music just for her core audience, not for the mass audience that she's had for 20 years, is yet another indication that Madge is slyly, slowly settling into her new status as veteran (or perhaps as survivor), and while she succeeds rather handsomely on those modest terms, it's more than a little odd to hear Madonna scaling back her ambition and settling for less rather than hungering for more. ~ Josh, 16th December 2005.
Free Music Review: So let's talk Dance Brilliance. Hit: 5 Stars
Madonna. What does one think of when you hear the name?
Well, I think of pure intelligence and this album proves it.
This album is purely nonstop dance and just a fun album. It's said
that it's Madonna's best since American Life by many reviewers. But everybody has their own opinion. But my opinion on this is that it's honestly, pop and dance music at it's amazingly-best. Does anybody have music like this out there? To tell you the truth, no they don't. Madonna reinvents herself on this album, as many has said. And track by track, the album just gets more and more amazing and great. Madonna uses such spunk and different types of beats in her songs and the entire CD flows (as the goal was probably for Madonna and Stuart Price). This album is just brilliant. I'll review each song one by one.
1.Hung Up-10/10. This song, as we all know by now, uses the wonderful music of ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) and honestly, the disco feel of this song reallyyyy works and it's just such a fun song. I truly love this song.
2.Get Together-10/10. Probably one of THE best songs on the album. It's incredibly intelligent and one of the best dance songs.
3.Sorry-10/10. My, my, my. This song is probably one of my favorites. It begins with Madonna saying "sorry" in many different languages. This is going to be the second single off of the album and it's well worth-it.
4.Future Lovers-10/10. Another one of my favorites (:. This song is just so dang hip and infectious, it's impossible to not love it.
5. I Love New York-11/10. THis song is said to be really silly and stupid by many. But it has a rock-dance feel to it, that I just immediately enjoyed it. Madonna starts off by saying "i don't like cities/but I like New york/other places/make me feel like a dork." Some may say it's not a very good song, but I love it (:
6.Let it Will Be-10/10. A very enjoyable song. It's very, very awesome and it's honestly, a very, very good song. Sure, it's repetitive, but it's super intelligent.
7.Forbidden Love-10/10. Probably the slowest song on the album. not a ballad though! This album doesn't have one ballad on it, but this song seems to me one of the prettiest songs, and I reallyyyy love it. I heard it the first time and it was awesome.
8.Jump-10/10. This is said to be the third single. And it's really single-material. Infectious and attatching. Brilliant and great to dance to. Masterpiece.
9.How High-10/10. This song sings about Madonna's fame and it's veryy dance-y and one of the faster songs. It's very, very enjoyable and also, one of my favorites.
10. Isaac-15/10. THIS.SONG.IS.MY.FAVORIIIIIITE. This song makes the album just.. brilliant. By FAR my favorite song on the ENTIRE album. It's very religious yes, but the parts in which Madonna sings in just make the song sooo beautiful and so intelligent. The Jewish chants sung by Isaac (English translation of name) are just haunting and beautiful. This song is beautiful. I can't get over it. My favorite track of the album. It's so beautiful and it's really well made into a dance track.
11.Push-9/10. This isn't my FAVORITE song off the album. It's just not my favorite. But it's still incredibly beautiful and awesome.
12.Like it Or Not-10/10. This is an AWESOME way to close off the album. It starts off by Madonna saying "You can call me a sinner/or you can call me a saint." And I just reallyyyyy like it as a closing song.
Madonna is brilliant.
I lover her.
This album is her best since "Ray of Light" in my opinion.

Free Music Review: Disco Makes A Comeback, Thanks To The Queen Of Pop!! Hit: 5 Stars
Madonna was in an interesting situation to follow-up her last album "American Life", critics hated the album and even though it debuted at #1 in the US it was a commercial failure. She had to create something as beautiful as "Ray Of Light" yet at the same time unearth her dance roots from "Like A Virgin". In 2005 she released "Confessions On A Dancefloor", her best album yet. Critics were amazed that she could rise from the ashes and redeem herself from the slump, fans rejoiced at the new 'disco' feel and I listened in awe as I heard one heck of an album.
In my opinion, "American Life" was amazing, it was actually my favourite album for a while, but this is just something else. Madonna's latest effort shows courage and determination, she keeps her signature 80's sound while retaining her muscial beauty. The overall sound of this album is amazing, she wanted to create an album with no gaps, ballads, with each song leading into another. That by any standards would be hard, however she accomplishes this feat with ease. There are no gaps between songs which makes it seem like a suite rather than an album, it's perfectly produced by Stuart Price and Madonna herself.
Now, with the public disappointment of "American Life" behind her anyone would think she would get rid of Mirwais Ahmadzai!! She doesn't, he only co-produces one track though. Don't let that deter you. You hardly hear disco anymore today, you hardly hear this type of 80's dance/disco anymore. What you do hear is pop wannabes trying to emulate that style and era of music. This is the real thing, no smoke and mirrors just Madonna.
This genre of music isn't the sort of music for deep, complex lyrics, and Madonna knows that obviously. The lyrics are quite good except on "I Love New York" when things start to borderline on the edge of cringe-worthy. Madonna save this with her illustrious vocals that have a little bit of help with the top-notch production. At times, the vocals get a little too electronic, sometimes sounding like a robot meets vocal synthesiser.
"Confessions On A Dancefloor" is overflowing with potential singles. Already released is "Hung Up", the party anthem of 2005. "Hung Up" samples ABBA's song "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" and while I'm not that attached to ABBA the sample works wonders here.
Other potential singles include:
"Sorry"
"How High"
"Push"
"Get Together"
The eccentric Kabbalah side of Madonna still shows on this album, while I don't mind Madonna having a religion I'm just tired of her flaunting it and just being so obsessed with it. What is it with these new age/designer religions like Kabbalah and Tom Cruise's one?? She says that the track "Isaac" is not a dig at Kabbalah at all, while the Kabbalah's say it is and vice-versa -----, anyway it is a rather Hebrew sounding song, but I'm no religious expert!
I love how Madonna is trying to rejuvinate the old-school/disco ways with this album. The songs sound retro yet maintain that 'fresh' appeal. The album is gorgeous, in every aspect, right down to the album art!
I've just realised that I haven't mentioned every track on this album in detail, well for this album I don't feel the need to. I feel that if I did I'd just be saying the same thing; great, amazing, out of this world. So, I've just decided to broaden the whole album out and mention certain aspects that I hope you will take away with you.
Overall, this album is going to be huge, it has already sold over 5 million copies worldwide! Just because it is a commercial success that doesn't mean it is bad, this album is in fact top quality and I highly recommend it.
