Free Music Notes for Hard Candy Special Edition [Candy Box]

Free Music Review: Candy Galore!
Hit: 5 Stars

It's tough to be a pop star when you are Madonna, possibly the most hardworking woman in the world. The recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee returns for her swan song with Warner Bros., Hard Candy. While Confessions on the Dance Floor was decidedly electronic disco, Hard Candy is what Madonna does best - a dance record without all the preaching and profundity.

Candy Shop, the opener, is outright campy with a hypnotic beat and tongue-in-cheek lyrics like "Come on in to my store, I've got candy galore. Don't pretend you're not hungry, I've seen it before." Give It To Me may have been co-written by Pharrell Williams but reeks of early Madonna circa 1983 (think Everybody). 4 Minutes is the crowd-pleaser of the moment but is not the best on Candy. Heartbeat is where Madonna goes basal, singing about dancing and being so free on the dance floor, all to a hard rocking beat. It's so glorious that you'd immediately imagine yourself working out a sweat to it.

Elsewhere, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake work their magic through tracks like Miles Away, a glowing electronic track about long distance love; She's Not There with its funky trademark interlude/bridge; and Incredible, Madonna's ode to hubby, Guy Ritchie's powerful bed thrusts. Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, the stylish ballad about infidelity, is set to grace Madonna's live tracklist in years to come. The album closes with the most lyrically introspective song about breaking free, Voices.

Hard Candy is what happens when FutureSex/Lovesounds meet Confessions on a Dance Floor. Yet, at any given moment, it's hard not to notice this is a Madonna album after all. It's been a long while since Madonna just wants to have fun and get into the groove. Like a song from her last album, like it or not, our grand lady of pop is here to stay.

The limited edition comes in a DVD case with two bonus remixes of 4 Minutes,a pack of candies and 16-page hard booklet.

Free Music Review: Madonna's bag of goodies!
Hit: 5 Stars

Here comes Madonna's latest effort, "Hard Candy". With the hit single "4 Minutes", and its trumpets, heavy beats and Justin Timberlake being everywhere, it's not very hard to imagine what this album is going to sound like. It would be pointless comparing it to anything Madonna's done before, since she is as diverse as always, but the album is very cohesive and consistent musically, and quite ingenious lyrically.
The opening track, "Candy Shop" is a minimalistic track with a killer bass line and very, very suggestive lyrics. It's reminiscent of Kylie Minogue's "Slow", but it's very Madonna - fun, sexy and a great album opener. Next comes "4 Minutes", the J.T. collaboration, and one of the strongest and club-friendliest songs on the album.
"Give It 2 Me" is a fun, dance song with a very fun instrumental and catchy chorus. "Heartbeat" is an ok song, but I consider it a filler. And then comes "Miles Away", the first ballad on a Madonna album since "Easy Ride" closed her 2003 effort American Life. It is a great, personal song which ranks among the best on the album. "She's Not Me" is also a great song, with hilarious lyrics, which unfortunately is over six minutes long, and therefore grows dull and loses its initial bite. This is the problem with most of the tracks on the album. Other great tracks include "Incredible" and the moody, atmospheric "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You".
"Hard Candy" is essentially Madonna proving (unnecessarily) she still is the Queen of Pop, as if we could ever forget. It's a fun, thought-out collection of songs that scream Madonna's still in the game. Not only that, she's the varsity coach!
This limited, special "Candy Box" edition of the album includes the CD, with two remixes of "4 Minutes", which are good, but less catchy than the original, a booklet and a pack of mint candies.

Madonna's 11th studio of new material pleases from begin inning to end. The Queen of Everything never ceases to amaze me or her fans around the world. I anticipate every single one of her releases the second I hear that she is in the studio; this release is no exception to that rule.
Hard Candy is a genius CD from song 1 and continues all the way through. Madonna does turn her attention to a more urban sound but all while still keeping with her dance and pop roots. There are so many songs on this set that remind me of many of her classics with a heavier bass line. So, if you were a bit leery of too much of a hip hop sound; do not be. Any fan of Madonna's knows that all her albums have some sort of theme throughout and I would classify Hard Candy is a brilliant Pop/Hip Hop CD. It's not the same pop/hip hop stuff you hear all the time on the radio that has that recycled sound either. Like Madonna, the sounds, beats and melodies are all fresh and inventive.
Every song on here is amazing with the exception of: "Spanish Lesson". This is a song I just cannot get to like as much as the others on here. It's not a bad song it just seems a bit out of place on here.
Songs to play on repeat:
"Candy Shop"
"4 Minutes"
"Give it 2 Me" - will be her next single
"She's Not Me"
"Beat Goes On" - with a stellar rap from Kanye West
"The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You"

This is a must have for any Madonna fan and/or anyone who just wants a great party CD. I can see Grammy's being one for this CD. Genius yet very fun all at the same time.

Free Music Review: Get Moving!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are a Madonna fan, it is entirely impossible to dislike this cd. Madonna fans, by nature, love to dance and have a good time. Hard Candy encourages you to do both.

Unlike other popsters (yeah, Mariah, Janet, Britney, I'm talking to you), Madonna doesn't hide behind the beats and jams that make her albums so fun. Madonna isn't afraid of us hearing her imperfect voice and I really appreciate being able to hear the voice of the person singing. If I have to hear one more whispering song from those other ladies, I'll probably lose my lunch.

Madonna doesn't have the strongest voice. Duh. Madonna isn't necessarily the nicest/softest person in the world. Really? But Madonna is creative, persistent, unapologetic and inspiring. She is as relevent today as she was 20yrs ago and this just chaps the hides of those who dislike her.

I bought the Candy Box on top of the regular cd because I wanted something not everyone would have. I love to dance and shake my bootay so I'll sign off now so I can crank this up and do some cleaning! Cleaning never has been so fun!

See you at her concerts! xox

Free Music Review: not going overboard on this
Hit: 5 Stars

There are plenty of pleople who have poured their heart and souls into reveiwing these albums. I'm not going to try to compete. As a HARD CORE Madonna fan for over 25 years, I'm happy to see she's evolved in some ways and found her way back to where we happily found her. ON the DANCE FLOOR. Where all good-little-madonna-groupies belong!! I normally take at least a few listens to ANYTHING to warm up to it, but a few were instant faves and the rest clicked after the first listen. I'm not going to tell you she's broken all new ground here. She please us, presented and delivered your quinessential Madonna pop album. All Hail!! Keep it coming! i'm working hard to bring my three daughters up on your music (not too hard) we have daily dance parties and they can recognize any song. I'm such a proud mum :)
