Free Music Review: My favorite Madonna Album!!

Out of all of Madonna's albums, this has to be my personal favorite. It's not as "dance-oriented" as her first record, Madonna, but its got more punch to it. From the opening number, Material Girl to the closing number, Stay, Madonna makes it perfectly clear that she didn't try to follow the same formula that made her first record a success, and that trend with her still stands today. This lp also marked the first time Madonna actually recorded a ballad, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, which is a real tearjerker the first time it is heard.
It's hard to choose which track that I like best, but if I really had to, I would say Over and Over (song number 4 on side 1 for those of you who, like me, still own the record). I like it because it is a song about not letting anything stand in your way (a sample of the lyrics: It's not the game, it's how you play and if I fall, I get up again), and as we all know, Madonna let NOTHING stand between her and success!).
I like all her albums and songs, but for me this is the one that is still my favorite, and has been since it came out in 1984.

Like a virgin, This was the record that introduced madonna to me, I love it, We has got the cassette in just a few weeks after it came out, Since then I started to listen to english music more. I do recall cyndi lauper (girls just wanna fun), I thought! they were same poeple, some said that madonna was coping her, I must say Madonna kicked her ... with this album, cyn was though. I due like cyn, But you just cannot compare her to madonna.. anyway Like a virgin takes me back to 2nd grade when all the girl dress like her, that was so cool. I did once hee hee, Well as we all know its hit # 1 for 3 weeks on album charts title track rose fast to # 1 for 6 weeks. The song has over 1 million copies, but do to chart rules at the time they have it cert- as gold. They need to update that. with (crazy for you) is also over 1 million copies and under certified. So madonna has 6 platinum singles. Just to inform those who dint know. But like a virgin has it all. POP>DANCE>RnBsound> good flavor those who do not agree I think is sick in the head!!!!!!!!! A great blast from the past. I remember this record (vinyl) when I had it in (1984-1985) Madonna was young and full of energy in those days. She still does today. But at that time she really made you sing along with her with "Like A Virgin" lp. "Dress You Up" a real fast pace song with alot of energy. My favorite "Angel" a nice paced song. "Material Girl" was a song of wanting rich men, but I know Madonna was not really like the material girl song. She was just catering to the record and the time. Every song on this record was a great song even the less heard ones ex.(Pretender, Stay, Over And Over)etc. Whether you were around at the time or just discovering this remastered cd, you will enjoy the awesome remastering job done to it and the two special mixes. I listen to this cd and as commercial as this record was at the time, this cd really makes me miss the mid 1980s. Enjoy the cd, it sounds better than ever. Ps. My "Like A Virgin" record did have a scratch or two on it and it skipped back in the day...... you and I wont have to worry about that anymore.....Free Music Review: One of the best eighties pop albums

Madonna was among the most successful pop singers of the eighties and nineties. Listening to this album, it's easy to see why, Four enormous international hits - Like a virgin, Angel, Material girl and Dress you up - plus an outstanding cover of Love don't live here anymore and some other great songs that would surely have been hits had they been released as singles - most notably Over and over, a catchy number to make you get up and dance to.There were those who thought that Madonna was all about image, but this album made me realise that she had the talent as well. I am therefore not surprised that she has continued to make great music that sells in huge quantities.
My Like a virgin CD includes another major international hit, Into the groove, which has been omitted from this re-mastered version. A couple of re-mixes of other songs have been included instead. Even without Into the groove (which can be found elsewhere), this remains one of Madonna's strongest albums - and that is saying something, given the consistently high quality of all her albums.

Madonna had already had moderate success with her self-titled debut with it spawning a handful of club hits and the top 10 hit "Lucky Star." It was this album, however, that made her a superstar and a household name.The first single "Like a Virgin" was a huge #1 hit and is still one of her biggest and most infamous songs. In addition,the album spawned three other top 5 hits. "Material Girl" would give her a nickname she would never completely live down. "Angel" was is another great pop song and was a big hit, although it was neglected by the "Immaculate Collection" as was "Dress You Up" which is still one of my favorite Madonna songs. Other gems include the original "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" *it was later remixed for "Something to Remember"* and the fantastic dance track "Over and Over." This album would go on to 10x platinum becoming her bestselling album, although the Immaculate Collection would later tie it. It is a worthy purchase.
