Free Music Review: Madonna's latest & greatest World Tour

I attended the Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA show (my 11th) which was held in the smallest venue on her tour, capacity 12,000. This DVD + CD combo takes you there even more intimately without the $381 ticket. This tour is Madonna's most ambitious one to date, which is saying a lot. She hangs from a mirrored cross for Live to Tell, a 1986 classic. She straddles and does sexy bad things to a carosel horse for Like A Virgin, perhaps her biggest hit of all time. She takes us back to 1984-and takes it back to 1980-for Lucky Star, another early classic hit. But it's her most recent record, Confessions on a Dance Floor, that get's most of Madonna's attention. And she wants you to be with her on her current quest for global domination of the pop kingdom. Therefore we are treated to instant classics such as the Hung Up closer of the show and see her humping a boom box. What should have been a hit single Jump with its frenetic dancers. And Sorry with its roller boogie influences. For me, the best moment in the show, this DVD and the CD however is EROTICA / YOU THRILL ME. She takes her hit from 1992 (backlash and all) and re-invents it into a haunting, melancholy, danceable version.
I would enthusiastically recommend this. Eventhough Madonna doesn't hit the charts in the US like she used to, and should still, her "art" or "product" if you will (herself), she has never be better. She is in tip top shape and at the top of her game with excellent songs and yet ANOTHER INCREDIBLE WORLD TOUR........Next tour Madonna should go to cities she hasn't been to ever or at least in a while....Atlanta, DC, Charlotte, Greensboro.....

I'm a Madonna freak so this review will be very biased. But even if you are not a Madonna fan, you will like this dvd for the shear drama and production of her latest tour -- The Confessions Tour. I went to her concert when whe came out of ther hiatus, The Ray of Light Tour, and she, her crew, the production, and the entire show was just an awesome spectacle. In this dvd, all the songs transitioned smoothly from one songe to another. The lights, the dancing, the themes within the show/concert, the costumes/clothes, the hair, the makeup -- all were well done and well executed. Because this was recorded at Wembley Stadium in England, it made the show even better and has an air of sophistication, and dare I say, elegance because of her interest in anything equestrian. My favorites were the opening song--Future Lovers--and Erotic. I like Erotic because it was re-arranged within the disco-Studio-54-Era theme which turned out be an amazing number in the show. Some political and social message but well integrated into the concert. She still persist on doing the Jesus theme in which she wore this quasi-crown-of-thorn head band studed with dangling red crystals to resemble dripping blood from Christ's forehead during the cruxifition portion of the show. Either you'll love it or hate it...but that's Madonna for you.
