Free Music Notes for True BlueFree Music Review: The New True Blue Hit: 5 Stars
True Blue is the album that changed my life forever. It made me the person I am today and released all my sexual doubts. Madonna taught me how to 'Express Myself' even before 'Like a Prayer'. For those that remember, MTV and Madonna had a 'Make my Video' contest. For 24 hours, MTV played homemade True Blue videos continuously. My video played at 11:48PM EST. I was the one dancing in the bathroom wearing my mother's underwear. Ever since then I have made a video for each and every Madonna song. My dream is to be one of her backup dancers.
True Blue is such an awesome album. After listening to Papa don't Preach on the radio I loved it, but I was hooked after seeing the video and watching her bounce and jiggle in her black outfit.
Open your Heart is the theme song of my life. I only wish I had someone to sing it to. I practice by singing it to my cats, so one day I will be ready to find my True Blue love.
Live to Tell is the most magical and beautiful song of Madonna's career. The mystery and wonder of this song makes me realize that I have a purpose in life and it is to worship Madonna. I have never met her, but I bought some of her skin off eBay. I bought it from someone who took it out of Madonna's slipper. Live to Tell makes me cry.
'White Heat' and 'Where's The Party' are great songs too. They are really fun to drive to when I deliver pizza. No matter how busy I am at work, I can always look forward to listening to Queen Madonna as I deliver piping hot goodness.
La Isla Bonita is Madonna's opinion on politics. After listening to this and watching her play the Don't cry for me Argentina lady, I dedicated my life to sending money to South America. But now Madonna is interested in Africa, so I send my money to Africa. I send it under Madonna's name. I do this for the goddess Madonna. One day she will reward me in Madonna heaven.
Last but not least, I changed my first and middle name to Jimmy. This is out of respect for the 'Jimmy Jimmy' song on this album that I love so much. I can only hope one day Madonna will know of my true love for her.
When I listen to this album I like to sit on my bed and cuddle with my oversized purple pillows. Sometimes I cry, and sometimes I go through my high school yearbook, but most of the time I just sing to my cats. This album gives me hope. It is the only reason why I live.
Free Music Review: What? Another controversial Madonna album? No way. Hit: 5 Stars
One of the most interesting American pop culture phenomenons of 1986 was the conviction of so many people that the Madonna song "Papa Don't Preach" (written by Brian Elliot with additional lyrics by Madonna) was an anti-abortion song. Certainly I can appreciate the idea that Madonna, whose public persona from the start was always closer to libertine than liberal, could be co-opted to represent conservative (nee traditional) family values. But all you have to do is read the lyrics of the song to see that this makes no sense." The pivotal line from the chorus is (altogether now) "But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby." Now, this is simple: the opposite of "keeping" your baby, is giving it up for adoption. The opposite of having an abortion would have been "having" your baby. This not even a close call and is right up there with President Reagan quoting Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." as evidence of American pride (again, the lesson is easy, just read the lyrics).Anyhow, "True Blue" was the third Madonna album and constituted a major makeover at least in terms of image (...); the change in her choice of music lagged behind a bit. You still have "dance" numbers like "Where's the Party" and there is usually a strong dance rhythm to many of the songs, but Madonna is also starting to move in other directions. "La Isla Bonita" offers a bit of Latino flair, but I have always thought "Live to Tell" was the key track on this album. The video matched the essence of the song: this is Madonna relying on her voice rather than her moves. She has never had a great voice and it was always a question of what she could do with it; on this song, really for the first time, she shows that she can be a singer rather than just a performer. How much have things changed since this album was first released? Well, it is dedicated to "My husband, the coolest guy in the universe." More importantly, enough time has passed that I can listen to the title track without cringing as hundreds and hundreds of music videos parade through my mind. Thank goodness MTV did not do that to one of the really good songs on this album. Finally, the bonus tracks are a split decision. I am not going to overjoyed to hear a LONGER version of "True Blue (The Color Mix)" but the Extended Remix of "La Isla Bonita" is a keeper.
Free Music Review: The first Queen of Pop reigns with this,, true 80s pop at its best Hit: 5 Stars
I was obsessed with Madonna growing up, and I remember this album when it first came out-I listened to her "Like A Virgin" album relentlessly in the 6th and 7th grade and "True Blue" as a terrific follow up. Another reason this album is so great is Madonna also made some memorable music videos from these songs-the good old days of MTV. Awesome ablum cover first of all, and this CD is full of great, enjoyable bright Madonna music. Most of the songs are terrific and atleast a couple went to Number One on the charts. Madonna collaborated with Patrick Leonard who also co-wrote several of the songs. Easy to listen to and one of the most popular album of the 80s-true competition with so many other great 80s artists like Michael Jackson and Prince.
1-Papa Don't Preach-great song and this is one of Madonna's more famous songs about a young woman who's pregnant and afraid of being judged- 10 out of 10
2-Open Your Heart-Good song though forgettable-8 out of 10
3-White Heat-Great song, Madonna really uses her voice in this. Was never released as a single-9 out of 10
4-Live to Tell-Great, beautiful ballad-like song that is also used in the film "At Close Range" starring her then-husband Sean Penn. This song is still played on all of the light-rock stations and has stood the test of time. 10 out of 10
5-Where's the Party-Fun, fabulous song that really gets you moving. I don't think this was ever released as a single but this is one of the best songs on the album-10 out of 10.
6-True Blue-Good bubble-gum quality to this song-cute and uppity though not my favorite-8 out of 10
7-La Isla Bonita-Different sounding song with some Spanish lyrics but this is another favorite on the album-another one that has stood the test of time-10 out of 10
8.Jimmy Jimmy-Nah, kind of weak, allegedly written about James Dean with elementary lyrics. Not my favorite- 6 out of 10
9.Love Makes the World Go Round-Kind of a "filler" track that again, doesn't really leave its mark and the only weak song on the album-5 out of 10
"True Blue" is one of the best examples of pure Pop that we were lucky to have in the 80's,,,, you will enjoy it!
Free Music Review: Madonna:- True Blue Hit: 5 Stars
1986's "True Blue" was a mammoth worldwide success. The set reached #1 in the US and 27 other countries (at the time unprecedented for a female artist) and spawned 5 smash singles. The lead-off single, Live To Tell, hit #1 in the US and was followed by another 4 Top five tracks. "Papa Don't Preach" and "Open Your Heart" also got #1, whereas "True Blue" got #3, and "La Isla Bonita" got #4. The album cemented her chart domination in the UK, where "Papa Don't Preach", "True Blue" and "La Isla Bonita" all got #1, aswell as the album itself. Produced by Madonna, Stephen Bray and Patrick Leonard, the album garnered her second Grammy award nomination. "Papa Don't Preach" scored a nod for Female Pop Vocal Performance. "True Blue" is Madonna's biggest selling studio album worldwide, with estimated sales at 23 million.

The album's opener track, "Papa Don't Preach", is a brilliant track that will always been a classic. "Open Your Heart" and "Live To Tell" are definately the best singles released from the album, whereas "White Heat" is dedicated to Jimmy Cagney. It's another great song. "Where's The Party" is also great, and I'm suprised this wasn't a single too! The singles "True Blue" and "La Isla Bonita" are also absolutely brilliant, though the embarrassing girlie video for "True Blue" isn't that great! Note that the video does not appear on here. "Jimmy Jimmy" is brilliant, and I honestly don't know why so many people hate it! "Love Makes The World Go Round" is probably "Blue's" weakest moment, but it's still worth a listen. Once again, the remixes are great, the one for "La Isla Bonita" being slightly better. This is definately one of Madonna's best album's, and I strongly recommend it!
My top three "True Blue" pics:-
3) White Heat
2) Open Your Heart
1) Live To Tell
Free Music Review: 40 minutes of pure fun on one CD! Hit: 5 Stars
After 2 mega-selling albums with 1983's self-titled album and 1984's sometimes imfamous "Like A Virgin", Madonna avoids the third album jinx by releasing her greatest selling album to date at this point in her career "True Blue". Released in August of 1986, this CD outsold it's two predecessors and it deserved all of the success that it got. Although it's certainly cheesy in some ways, "True Blue" is to me Madonna's album where a much greater maturity took the podium and her voice sounds so much better than it did previously. While most of these songs like "True Blue" and "Jimmy Jimmy" border on the edge of 1980s bubble-gum pop music this CD is one of my favorites for two really excellent and thought-provoking classic hits which are "Papa Don't Preach" and "Live To Tell". The former while certainly straight-out pop in nature has a very dramatic and pleading sense of urgency and a great orchestral sound to back it up. "Live To Tell" is in my opinion Madonna's greatest ballad and having a really dark yet bright sound with a really dramatic undertone about someone surviving a horrific crime or accident (whatever you call it) and living to tell about it. I really love the haunting keyboard effects and the echoing beat. "Open Your Heart" is a long-lasting classic with those memorable tinkling keyboard effects but it is really starting to show it's age with those tingling keyboard effects but it's still great to listen to. I strongly recommend this for Madonna fans because it is just plain fun and people from anywhere on the intelligence scale can really enjoy this album because it's just plain fun and is a great time capsule for a great year in music (In my opinion). The remastered edition has really improved sound quality and included are two extra remixes of "True Blue" and "La Ista Bonita" both of which are good. In a way it makes me sad to think that Madonna has lost her way in making such great music like this with her latest atrocity that is "American Life" which sounds far more dated than "True Blue" does.
