Free Music Notes for You Can DanceFree Music Review: You can dance, and you will dance and maybe even sing! Hit: 5 Stars
Madonna had definitely hit the right chord with this album. If you like remixes, instrumentals, and extended remixes, this is the album for you. The first track is the emotionally uplifting Spotlight that can cheer you up when you're feeling down. It blends nicely into the ever popular Holiday, which emphasizes the percussion more than the original. Everybody had a great beat, but does get boring after one has been listening for awhile. Instrumentals of Spotlight and Holiday encourage the listener to sing along. Both are well done. Over and Over stays true to the original, but it's an extended version that is pleasing to the auditory organs along with the popular Into the Groove. Where's the Party deviates from the original slightly but Madonna fans will recognize it instantly. It's interesting to try and keep up with her while she sings: We can make it alright/we can you dance/we can make the party last all night. The instrumental version of Over and Over could have been arranged better but still a good song and Into the Groove instrumental is a joy to listen to.Overall, this is a great album for the certified Madonnaphile and will make an excellent addition to a listener's CD collection.
Free Music Review: We All Danced Hit: 5 Stars
"You Can Dance" by Madonna is a great dance album, it has some amazing remixed of Madonna's early non-released material, songs like "Into The Groove", "EveryBody"(the song that started it all) and "Where's The Party", "Physical Attraction" and "Over And Over", make this album very special, but what makes this album even more special, was the fact that she had enough confidence in this album to released a new song "Spotlight"(which actually has a video to it) and although it only hit #31, back in 1988 it gave us something to listen to that year because that was the only song she had out in that year, she also released a video to the remixed version of "Where's The Party", where she combines all of her early 80's videos together to make one great greatest hits video, this album is one of the best dance albums because it came from Madonna's vault of unreleased songs and she was allowed to fix them up the way she felt people would want to hear them, and once again she is right.
Free Music Review: Brave Attempt,, a success in my eyes!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is actually pretty well done considering it is the first remix album in history. This practice is still not performed often today. Id even recomend to buy the album just for the sake of SPOTLIGHT the newcommer for Madonna. Spotlight was only released as a single in Japan not in North America folks. Spotlight is an amazing track in my eyes, very go getting and inspirational and to know Madonna is by your side as she claims feels awesome. As for Holiday there are two remixes and they are great. Everybody her first single is included on this collection as well as physical attraction both from her first album. Over and Over from like a virgin is included and awesome track best on this album over the virgin version. Into the Groove, what can I say the 80s defined on this track, two remixes of this track included. And lastly two versions of the track WHERES THE PARTY, come on people party to this track from the true blue album. Over all a very well thought out and brave attempt! GO GET EM MADONNA!!
Free Music Review: Pure pop genius Hit: 5 Stars
One of the first (if not the) remix albums in its time, this is a great non-stop pop dance album! The album starts with a new rack (and only found here), the Lucky Star-ish 'Spotlight', a nice, light, feel-good pop song. With classic Madonna tracks remixed, the fantastic Into The Groove (the only remix) with the great honky-tonk break half way through, Holiday (not touched very much - just tweaked), Everybody, the fans favourite Wheres the Party (give a real party treatment here!), and a fantastic remix version of Over and Over from the Like a Virgin album. All tracks are sequenced (non-stop) and are extended versions. Dubs come as CD extras, and quite good they are too (as dubs go!) Well worth it for fans of classic Madonna. These are how remixes should be, they retain the best elements of the original song, but offer enough of a twist to make them exciting all over again.
Free Music Review: Want something to cheer you up? Hit: 5 Stars
Had too much to drink the night before. Then put this on full blast. Complete cure for all ailments.I originally heard a bootleg on cassette of this fine collection when I was in the Philippines. Out of sheer boredom mutating to joy, I listened to this repeatedly (all 68 minutes and 31 seconds!). The wonderful rarity "Physical Attraction" which is so hard to find on other LPs by this "virgin", is an absolute classic. It's often-touted "corny" rhymes are to me like a fairy tale being recounted. I am in the same awe and wonder at these masterpieces of dance as if I were a child. Madonna is just plain beautiful. And to top it all, she's sexy too. Release this on video CD and the world will be a better place. This is absolutely essential. Makes "The Immaculate Collection" look a little soiled!
