Free Music Notes for You Can DanceFree Music Review: Fantastic, dance remix collection Hit: 5 Stars
Madonna's 1987 "You Can Dance," album is a 10-track collection of some of her dance remixes, from all albums: 1983's "Madonna," 1984's "Like A Virgin," and 1986 "True Blue." Opening with a new song "Spotlight,"(6:23), is an inspiring song, motivating everyone to get up and follow their dreams. Along with the great remixes of "Everybody"(6:43), "Physical Attraction"(6:20), and the motivational "Over and Over"(7:11). Other great remixes and dub versions of "Holiday"(6:32-dub version 6:56), "Into the Groove"(8:26-dub version 6:23), and "Where's the Party"(7:16-dub version 6:20). This would be great for parties, dancing, or just having a great time. Even if you can't dance, you'll still enjoy the music.
Free Music Review: Dancing For The Inspiration Hit: 5 Stars
Always leader of the pack, Madonna took the idea of a remix album and gave it her usual cutting edge flair, commissioning freshly produced remix work by Shep Pettibone and making an album exclusive track with the uplifting dance pop ditty "Spotlight". The songs are mixed together, making it the perfect 80s Madonna dance mix, with some of her biggest and best dance club singles of the time. Highlights include the epic anthem that is her classic "Holiday", the bubbly sex kitten tune of "Physical Attraction", and the real gem in this remix crown is the amazing over eight minute extended remix of her catchiest disco moment "Into The Groove." Epic in enegry and fun, though not the most essential of Madge's albums, it's definitely one of the most carefree. Five stars for a five star dance collection.
Free Music Review: Get Into The Groove! Hit: 5 Stars
Madonna's fans get INTO THE GROOVE with this album filled with great dance tracks. SPOTLIGHT is pretty awesome. This track does not appear on any of Madonna's previous albums. EVERYBODY,HOLIDAY and PHYSICAL ATTRACTION are from her 1983 self-titled debut(the original versions). HOLIDAY became part of 1990's THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION. OVER AND OVER is from LIKE A VIRGIN,her first platinum-seller. From TRUE BLUE is WHERE'S THE PARTY?. INTO THE GROOVE from Madonna's debut film DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN is a major ass-kicker. So get up on your feet and step to the beat. This album like 2003's AMERICAN LIFE,is ideal for discotheques.
Free Music Review: Great Grooves Hit: 5 Stars
Released in 1987, "You Can Dance" is one of my favorite albums ever. Every song here is great for parties and will fill dance floors, especially the 10 - minute remix of "Into The Groove" by Shep Pettibone, who worked Madonna countless times as well doing remixes for artists like Elton John. Other great tracks include the club hit "Everybody", the rapid - fire "Over And Over" and the timeless "Holiday". This is an entirely great album filled with great music. I hope a Madonna boxed set is released in the future.
Free Music Review: Lost in the '80s Hit: 5 Stars
Believe it or not, I listen to this album quite often - I especially like this version of "Where's the Party", as well as the other songs. This album was definitely ahead of its time, with the non-stop dance mix - I don't know of any other compilation that was made in the '80s where the songs blended to the next. This is definitely an album to listen to if you want to forget about your worries and try to bring back sweet memories of the '80s, especially if it's a dance party in the '80s.
