Free Music Notes for Magnolia: Music from the Motion PictureFree Music Review: Where's the credit for Rush? Hit: 3 StarsAimee Mann sings background on the Rush album "Hold Your Fire". On that album is a song called "Time Stands Still" which features Aimee Mann very significantly. The song is a major part of Magnolia, but why isn't Rush credited on the soundtrack??? I guess the point is, if you are a fan of the Magnolia soundtrack, check out Rush's "Hold Your Fire" cd.
Free Music Review: The danger of overplaying it had me worried at first... Hit: 5 Starsbut I've had this album for months and neither my husband nor I get tired of hearing it. When nothing else will do, this album is so complete. Each song is full in Aimee Mann's multi-level sounds, her thoughtful lyrics, and her refreshing intonations. There's nothing unoriginal about her sound. Take "Deathly", the upbeats come just when you settle into a nice satisfying melody and expect a pause. Her version of "One" is lovely and she makes all her own. "Wise Up" "Save Me" and "Build That Wall" have meaningful lyrics and addictive melodies. This is why I don't grow tired of this album, there are always more levels and angles to hear this album.
Free Music Review: AIMEE MANN......... Hit: 5 StarsWhat else can I say about the woman that hasn't already been said?! She has got to be one of the most talented singer/songwriters around. Her music actually has something to say. There's a message behind each song, or at least a story, unlike some of the music that's out there today. The music to this movie is fantastic and I highly recommend both to anyone and everyone. If you have never heard of Aimee Mann, don't ask questions or inquire about her. RUN, don't walk and pick up this cd today!! You will not be disappointed. "WISE UP" and buy this album ASAP!!
Free Music Review: Magnolia Hit: 5 StarsAn excellent soundtrack! It is said that Anderson used some of Aimee Mann's songs as inspiration for characters in the film. This is evident by the richness and emotion that these songs convey, and the parallels are striking. Mann's songs are a soundtrack rarity in that they compliment the film but also stand tall alone. The Supertramp songs are oddly placed, but I like Supertramp so I didn't mind their presence on the record as much as other folks. The Gabrielle song "Dreams", as well as the Magnolia score, are pleasant enough. I feel that the standout track, and the song that convinced me to buy this record, is Mann's "Wise Up." It's been a while since I have heard such a beautiful pop song. Every other song Mann composed is wonderful, however, especially "Build That Wall" and "Deathly." Buy it!
Free Music Review: Wow! Hit: 5 StarsThis is my favorite cd. I've had it for almost a year and still give it #1 status. I am hoping that Aimee Mann will continue to give us music year after year. She is probably the main reason I look forward to enjoying music for the rest of my life.
