Free Music Review: A Blast from the Past
Hit: 5 Stars

A great return to my chilhood days, when I frequently listened to this album on a (for you old folks who remember) "record player". And do listen to more than just Monday Monday and California Dreaming. There are other songs there. In Crowd and Spanish Harlem are two songs that got their fame by different artists, but the M&P versions are worth listening to. And you haven't heard Mama Cass until you heard I Call Your Name. I could heardly believe it was her! And the satisfying old-time rhythms of Hey Girl and Somebody Groovy is irreplaceable. This group also makes gratifying use of vocal harmony. (Minor warning: Toilet not covered on CD version).

Free Music Review: The one Mamas and the Papas album to own!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is it! This is the pinnacle of the Mamas and the Papas, the beginning of the decline of the one of the best rock groups of all time. Never will there be a mixed sex group that could harmonize like these guys could. Unfortunately (similar to Crosby Stills Nash & Young and Simon & Garfunkel), they weren't very good on their own (exception: Mama Cass). Every single song on this album is a classic, even the maudlin "Got a Feelin'". A CD that needs to be in any serious rock fan's library, is heavily influential and just plain excellent! Listen to this and I dare you not to be enthralled by it!

Free Music Review: A spectacular debut!!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Mamas and the Papas are one of my all-time favorite musical groups. Their lyrics are wonderful, their melodies are beautiful and their music soothes the soul. If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears, the debut album by The Mamas and the Papas, is a wonderful album. It contains most of their best known and best loved songs such as 'Monday Monday', 'California Dreamin' and 'Go Where You Wanna Go'. If you can appreciate good music and beautiful voices, then this album is for you.

Free Music Review: somewhat dated, great popular music
Hit: 5 Stars

It's very much of its time, I suppose. "Sunshine pop" is the name it's been given, and some of the subject matter could sound naive now and for anyone in the over-17 crowd, but it's so breezy and the melodies are so infectious that it makes for good listening much longer than one expects on the first rotation. It's very unique as a period piece, but more than just "California Dreamin'" and "Monday, Monday" hold up long after the fact.

Free Music Review: Got a Feelin'.....
Hit: 5 Stars

After listening to this album, I've got a feelin' that this is their best album. I have all their other albums and I really love this 60's group. There is variety of soft and fast paced songs on the IF YOU CAN BELIEVE YOUR EYES AND EARS album, which probably best represents them. Mama Cass' The In Crowd really cracks me up at the end of the album and if you love 60's music, you'll definately love the Mamas and Papas.
