Free Music Notes for Man of La Mancha (2002 Broadway Revival Cast)Free Music Review: A Huge Stokes Fan Hit: 5 Stars
There is no voice currently on the stage that can parallel that of Brian Stokes Mitchell! It seems as if the role of Don Quixote was written just for him. Not to take anything away from the great Richard Kiley, but Stokes' silky but booming baritone voice is nothing short of perfection. (in my humble opinion) I have seen the show twice in its run - both times with Marin Mazzie in the lead. I agree with "music fan" that she is a much better Aldonza than ME Mastrantonio and I do wish it were her voice on this recording instead. I'm sure ME made a wonderful Aldonza, but I simply prefer Mazzie's voice. HOWEVER, if only to have to opportunity to hear Stokes sing Quixote, BUY THIS CD!

I have listened to several versions of Man of La Mancha over the years and at last have found one that lives up to all my expectations. Brian Stokes Mitchell's interpretation of the words of the songs, together with a great voice, is second to none. The final sequence and finale brought me to tears. The magnificent song 'The Impossible Dream' has been murdered by many singers in the past but finally here is one who has brought all the meaning and emotion to the fore.
The other cast members too, did a brilliant job.

I recently saw my second stage performance of Man of La Mancha which took me back to my youth in the 1960's when I experienced my first stage performance and it was of Man of La Mancha. It was all I could do, not to sing along with the cast. I have the album but no longer have a turn table so I was delighted to order and receive the CD. Now I can sing along to my heart's content, my own timeless Impossible Dream. Nancy of Jackson Hole, WY.
Free Music Review: The best version! Hit: 5 Stars
I love this CD! I've listened to several of the different Man of la Mancha versions and this one is my favorite. Every voice is strong and clear and packs the punch necessary to carry the score. My favorite tracks include Man of la Mancha, Dulcena, The Impossible Dream, Knight of the Woeful Countenance and The Death of Alonso Quijana/Finale. That last track really makes me tear up its so powerful! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I actually saw this play live in NYC when I went there on a trip and I loved it. All the leads had gorgeous and full voices. I too sing and have seen broadway shows and this is definetly a favorite. The passion these actors displayed can be heard through the songs and this is a soundtrack worth buying. I found this to be better than the original. All together this is a great piece of musical talent.
