Free Music Notes for Amar Es CombatirFree Music Review: Another hit for Maná Hit: 4 Stars
I have been impatiently waiting for this album to come out and now that it has, I can say that it was worth the wait. This cd is very representative of Mana's "soft-rock en español" style. Though some people tire of the same type of music, I give them points for consistency. Their style is why I fell in love with them in first place. As usual this album includes the love songs that romantics identify with, especially the song "Bendita tu luz", a duet with Juan Luis Guerra, which is the collaboration of my dreams.
As mentioned by other reviewers this album does lack the usual socially conscious songs but I think Maná's attempt at being socially conscious this time around is through the album's title Amar es Combatir which means To Love is to Battle and probably why all the tracks on the album have love as their main theme.
All the songs are great especially, "Labios compartidos", the first single released off the album; "Ojala pudiera borrarte", "Bendita tu luz" and "Rey Tiburón". My only complaint is the dance remixes which I could have done without.
Free Music Review: After a few days I understand Hit: 4 Stars
Now I understand what other users are saying, is not that their sound is the same, if that was the case, the CD would be great. Their unique sound is what I've grown to love about this band.
The CD isn't bad, the lyrics are new and the more I listen to it the more I like it. The problem is the melody, it sounds like a recycled product from previous songs and it makes this album ordinary at best, it doesn't sound any different or any more innovative than releasing an unplugged version of previously released songs! (even though I like the MTV unpluged version) Is to bad, I was really looking forward to it.
All in all, the album isn't bad. So if you are a fan of this band I would recomend getting this albun (since you are a fan) and if you have limited knowledge about this band I would recomend picking up this album since every melody will sound new to you!
Free Music Review: Very Good CD Hit: 4 Stars
You may have bought this one for Labios Compartidos, but Tu Me Salvaste is the song you'll replay over and over. Best songs on the disc are Tu Me Salvaste, Arrancame El Corazon, Combatiente, and Labios Compartidos.
The disc covers the familiar Mana themes of surreal sirenic women and heartbreakers with heavenly bodies. I've come to expect and enjoy that about the group. They also as usual show versatility and mix up the style of play.
I was disappointed in the CD version of Labios Compartidos. It wasn't recorded with the same force or passion the the single being played on the radio was.
In my opinion Tu Me Salvaste is Mana's best single and Amar ES Combatir as a CD is second only to Suenos Liquidos.
Free Music Review: An Absolute Pleasure Hit: 4 Stars
Ojala Pudiera Borrarte makes my heart light up every time I here it. I haven't a clue what it's about, but it is simply a beautiful, almost spiritual song for me. I know some reviewers criticize Mana for not breaking any new ground with this album, I disagree. This is their most well rounded album yet. It highlights how versatile these fine writers and musicians really are. Every song was impeccably recorded and yet not so overly processed that I grew tired of it. This is not always true these days.
Labios Compartidos and Somos Mar y Arena round out my three favorite songs. This CD has spent a lot of time in car - excellent driving music. Needless to say I highly recommend Amar Es Combatir whole heartedly!
Free Music Review: sigue siendo mana Hit: 4 Stars
after reading the mixed reviews, it was tempting to forego this purchase, but for the sake of the prior albums, i gave in and bought it. the first couple of listens left me disappointed...it's more of the same (though i love mana) but then after the 3rd or 4th time i started to realize that es lo mismo, pero no es igual. and i'm glad to have gotten it. i'm certain that i'll keep listening to it for a long time.
