Free Music Notes for ChristmasvilleFree Music Review: Good Album - But Requires Perspective Hit: 4 Stars
I understand most of these reviews - and I agree with them only on ONE point: This is NOT a "Typical" Mannheim Steamroller album. And there is a very specific reason it is not.
This "concept album" was conceived MAINLY by the creative team at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, and specifically for their annual Grinchmas Who-liday celebration. Since their sibling company, Universal Pictures, released the live-action film "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" AND Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure Theme Park have ties to Dr. Seuss (Islands of Adventure has Seuss Landing as one of its themed islands), it only made sense that they would create a live action show featuring elements from the much-beloved cartoon and the film as well. Problem was the original soundtrack sounded disjointed and didn't blend well at all.
So it was that Universal Orlando reached out to Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller, and asked him to re-envision the live action show. The result is Christmasville - a collaboration between Mannheim Steamroller and Universal Orlando.
This is why the album is very short - the show itself is only about 45 minutes including dialogue not included on this album. With no offense meant to any of the other reviewers, what this album lacks is the perspective which it sorely, desperately needs. You're right of course: It's NOT a typical Steamroller album that comes from a store. But maybe, perhaps, this album means a little bit more.
Free Music Review: Very Satisfied Hit: 4 Stars
I have been an MS supporter for many years. I enjoy anything Chip Davis puts together. This project, though unique, still gives the listener the feeling of Christmas. It may not be his normal composition but is both rewarding to the listener and offers a little twist of the spirit of Christmas. Thank you Amazon for supporting Chip and his fine orchestra and for making this music possible. Even if for only adding to a collection, this disk is worth every penny.
Free Music Review: Christmasville Hit: 4 Stars
This CD by Mannheim Steamroller is a bit different than the others, but I am okay with this. I think artists need to change things up and give a different perspective to their art/music. This CD takes the listener down memory lane of Whoville. I think it is a good one to have in the CD library.
Free Music Review: Mannheim Steamroller as its best! Hit: 4 Stars
I own all of the Mannheim Steamroller work, and this one, has an incredible sound quality, i like christmas music, and this one is one of the best i ever heard, Thank you Chip.
Free Music Review: Great music Hit: 4 Stars
It isn't the best of the Steamroller and is quite different from what Chip usually produces but given the fact that it has the Grinch, makes it a good album to have.
