Free Music Review: Lo mejor de fusion mundial
Hit: 5 Stars

Absolutamente Increible! I have never had my mind blown by such a mix of music. Through its simplicity it is beautifully complex. Now I just wish i understood french. . . Os recomendo a quienes que os gustan musica del espiritu y el alma. Proxima Estacion Esperanza es bueno tambien.

MANU VENGA A LOS EEUU TIENES QUE TOCAR AQUI!
THE USA NEEDS MANU CHAO!

Free Music Review: Extraordinary!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I absolutely love this CD. It is one of my all-time top-5 favorite CDs. It gets under your skin and stays there. I first heard it on vacation in Costa Rica where we played it non-stop for 3 months while playing, dancing and relaxing. I couldn't get enough of all the songs. I'd have to say my most favorite songs are "Mentira", "Lagrimas de Oro", "Bongo Bong", "Por el Suelo" and "Welcome to Tijuana". I don't know spanish, but I did get the songs translated and Chao writes/sings from his heart and experience. If you want to listen to something different and original, I highly recommend buying this CD. But, be careful, you may never listen to anything else again ;)

Free Music Review: Poetic, Artsy, and in Espan~ol (y otras idiomas)
Hit: 5 Stars

I love music in espan~ol but most of what is available in the states is way too cheezy pop. Ever since I discovered Ozomatli I had searched for spanish-language music that had the same poetic artsy quality to it. My friend from Mexico lent me this cd and i listened to it for days. Granted the track i share the most is "Welcome to Tijuana" but I like the range and diversity on all of them. The music is interesting and the lyrics give you plenty to ponder about. Actually I was turned off by this artist initially from an editorial review on cdnow that now I think was really unfair. Whassup with that? This artist and CD is excellent!!

Free Music Review: Clandestino ~ Manu Chao
Hit: 5 Stars

A wonderful and charming album full of weird and wonderful sound effects that one might associate with electronic childrens toys.
I first heard this album on an island in the south of Thailand and have been hooked ever since. Rarely do I ever find an album which I love from begining to end. Manu and his backing vocalists produce a wonderful rhythem and are masters in several European languages which they use to great effect. Stand out tracks include 'Bongo bong'and 'Je ne taime plus'. My favourite album in years.

Free Music Review: An absolute masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great album like its follow up. Some have criticised 'Proxima Estacion Esperanza' on the grounds that it borrows the tune of 'Bongo Bong' from 'Clandestino' and re-uses it on a couple of songs. They suggest that this means Manu is now running out of ideas. The fact that such an idea is nonsense is shown clearly on 'Clandestino'- Manu is already reworking an earlier song here in the shape of 'Bongo Bong' which is a new version of the Mano Negra song 'King of Bongo'. If he has run out of ideas on 'Esperanza' this suggests he had already done so on 'Clandestino'. Those who make this criticism haven't listened to much of Mano Negra's stuff where Manu was constantly reworking earlier themes ('King Kong Five' fed into 'Long, long nite', etc). Now in his early 40's (born in Paris in 1961) Manu has been around the block with several groups (Les Hot Pants, Los Carayos, La Mano Negra) and shows no sign of tiring- just go and watch him live and see how much of the live material has not yet appeared on record. 'Clandestino' seems a much more personal offering than 'Esperanza'. It is generally slower and more acoustic. Less varied, it therefore holds together better as a coherent whole. The influences here are mainly reggae and Latin American folk- although it is very difficult to categorise him. The main influences which have disappeared since his Mano Negra days are Punk, Rockabilly and Ska but there is a considerable continuity between 'Clandestino' and the last Mano album 'Casa Babylon'. You do not need to decide which is better 'Clandestino' or 'Esperanza'- you should just buy both.
