A mis compa's y comma's del mundo: Eschuchen, Disfruten y Aprenden!This CD is an incredible blend of poetic ballads, passionate rhythms and thoughtful indignation. Manu Chao incorporates his concerns about the fate of the "desaparecidos" into a musical collage of simple guitar riffs, latin rhythms and consummate storytelling lyrics that are simultaneously enchanting and disturbing. The recurring motifs of alienation and displacement are most powerful in "Clandestino" and "Desaparecidos". The most memorable verse in the album is "esperando la ultima ola" (waiting for the final wave) is a chilling, apocalyptic warning to the triumphant forces of global capitalism that the world's population of dispossesed, disenfranchised and dehumanized people (3/4 of the world) will prevail over the unfettered forces of corporate globalization. An Andalucian Bob Dylan is the best description that I can conjure up. World Beat Fans of the World will love it.

That's al you can say about this CD, the first LP from the leader of Mano Negra is one of the best ever latin music LP's. Songs full of catchy beats, sense of humour and concerned llyrics, a beautiful mix of music styles and languages (there are songs in English, Spanish and French)Free Music Review: Thought provoking. Manu Chao has captured the escence of the third world, and bottled it in a CD. From an outside perspective that lets him point out main (overseen) cultural trends, and with an inside spirit that expresses sad and happy issues of the situation that that most people in this world live in.In my opinion this is a cultural milestone and fun music. This ia a book made music. Thank you Manu.

How can you classify this music? It isn't latin, it isn't funk. It's not rock or pop or world or folk or rap. Manu Chao has taken influences from just about every musical genre and created something unique. It is different, it is cool. ended up discovering how wonderful it can be! A friend turned me on to this CD just a few weeks ago and the more I listen to it the more I am drawn in. A wonderful fusion of many musical styles I can only suggest trying it out for yourself - I think you will end up quite pleased.
