I'm normally into the dance, alternative music scene so Marc Cohn was the comfort blanket and stability that got me through college. My first CD of his that I bought was Burning the Daze. Such songs as Saints Preserve Us and Healing Hands allowed me to relax during states of extreme turmoil in my life, and provided a spiritual boost that was sometimes needed. I discovered this artist by accident during an Amazon.com gem hunt. This guy has become one of my favorite artists. He his heads and feet above most contemporary song writers. I purchased this only for "Walking in Memphis" which I LOVED, but was sadly the only Marc Cohn song I knew. Turns out I've been missing out. I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he was only familiar with one song, Walking in Memphis. He liked the whole album, but did note that through the years from Walking in Memphis his voice changed and seemed to be more "commercialized". Marc Cohn is a prolific songwriter. I was specifically looking for 'True Companion' when I came across this album. Some of the tracks were familiar, others were new. I am amazed by the depth of his words. I highly recommend this!
