Free Music Notes for E=MC2Free Music Review: Perfect Pop Hit: 5 Stars
There's two ways you can look at this album, artistically or for what it is, which is a pop album that does not take itself too seriously. For an artistic dissection see Stephen Thomas Erlewine's review on Windows Media Player, this is not such a review.
Modern R&B/Hip-Hop is often criticised for being too formulaic. Put together the finest producers of the day and feature the hottest rappers of the moment. Add the best studios & engineers that money can buy, a huge marketing budget and you've got a hit, albeit a disposable one.
That may be true but every once in a while that formula works and this is such a case. For this album everything falls into place for Mariah. Every song could be a single and if you liked her last album than you'll go bananas for this one. I usually hate comparisons but this is far superior album to the last one.
Its hard to pick a favourite track as they all good. "O.O.C", "I'll Be Loving You Long Time" & "I'm That Chick" are the perfect party starters for the mature crowd. "Migrate" & "Side Effects" are tailor made for the rides, don't be surprised if you here a few remixes on your favourite artist's mixtape. Mariah Doesn't forget radio, "Touch My Body" anyone? But Mariah really comes into her own on the ballads, "I Stay In Love", "For The Record" & "Last Kiss" are Mariah at her absolute best.
Even so, Stephen still criticises, claiming that MC has been in the game almost 20yrs and yet the album lacks maturity, it could have been a 22yr old singing those songs. The song writing is so so at best, masked only by the expensive production. He's got a point but I say there's enough Erykah Badu's, Amy Winehouse's, John Legend's out there to keep the coffee shop, sandle wearing crowd happy. This is simply pop music; done right.
Free Music Review: Mariah, You On Fire! Hit: 5 Stars
I wasn't sure how to feel about E=MC2, since I only "liked" Emancipation. However, my doubts were pleasantly dismissed.
1. Migrate (feat T-Pain) = club-friendly song. I like listening to this getting ready to go out.
2. Touch My Body = I think we all know this song (and it's hilarious video!)
3. Cruise Control (feat Damian Marley) = reggae influenced chill jam.
4. I Stay In Love = slow jam that can be seen as in the same vein as some of her other hits (My All, The Roof, etc).
5. Side Effects (feat Young Jeezy) = this one continuously gives me chills when I think about the reports about her relationship with Tommy Mottola. love the inclusion of Young Jeezy, but I think this track is strong enough without needing a guest vocalist.
6. I'm That Chick = fun, flirty song
7. Love Story = another slow jam. very wistful in tone.
8. I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time = lovin' this one. mid-tempo.
9. Last Kiss = another slow tempo song.
10. Thanx 4 Nothin' = to all the players out there!
11. O.O.C. = another fun song to groove too.
12. For The Record = love how she managed to name check her own songs!
13. Bye Bye = knew this was going to be the next single! very beautiful and definitely what you would expect from the lady who brought us "Hero"
14. I Wish You Well = good closer. she takes the high road here.
Overall, I find myself getting into this album more easily than I did the last one. I'm constantly listening to this & I think that she has a great ability of using words to illustrate something or to come out with rhymes that you would never have thought of. Not only is she beautiful, she's also pretty smart.
=)
So what are you waiting for? Go! Buy this!!!

Wow, this album is just amazing and one of her best albums. I think it's way better than MIMI.
1-)Migrate - One of the best songs on the album. This should be a single, my only complain is i think T-Pain's part is too long. 10/10
2-)Touch My Body - Her 18th number one, soft, sexy fun and catchy song. 10/10
3-) Cruise Control - To be honest, i didn't like this song at first but now i like it. Her Jamacian accent is so cool. 7/10
4-) I Stay In Love - Great Ballad, very good song. Her vocals are good on this one too. 8/10
5-) Side Effects - My favourite song on the album. The beat and lyrics are amazing. 10/10

10-) Thanx 4 Nothin' - I love the lyrics, beat is good too. 8/10

Free Music Review: Fun album! Hit: 5 Stars
After reading a few of the review, I think people need to lighten up. For all the diehard early Mariah traditionalists, I think you are seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. There's quite a bit of revisionist history going on. Way back when in the early days, her voice was spectacular, I'll give you that. But she was often commented upon that she oversang numerous songs. Her music was also overly melodramatic. There were popular duds like Vision of Love that drove me crazy, mixed among some spectacular songs. She didn't get to do too many fun songs that had a good melody. Music shouldn't just be a technical exercise. It's supposed to move you. And pulling at melancholic heart strings is not the only way to move someone.
So she transitioned into the person she is today. It was an extremely rough transition with the disastrous albums Glitter, Rainbow, Butterfly, and Charmbracelet. But this album is amazingly listenable. Sure, she doesn't have the vocal range of the past, but almost all songs on this album are enjoyable. There's only a couple filler songs. I'm surprised they opened with Touch My Body which is only okay. But don't let that stand in the way of getting this album. A worthwhile purchase.
As for her midlife crisis, she never really had a fun early adult life. She got married way too early to a man that was way too old for her. And she suffered during those years so people need to cut her some slack and let her enjoy life again. Sure, she's immature for her age, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt because that early marriage to a person will little commonality stunted her growth as a person.
Free Music Review: E=MC2 = Hit after hit Hit: 5 Stars
I will easily go out on a limb and say this has got to be one of her best CD's, next to Music Box. E=MC2 keeps up with the same formula that made `Emancipation' such a smash success. I have to say; if it aint broke, why fix it. Mariah has struck gold again on her latest effort. It has all the ingredients that we all love in a great Mariah CD: soul, power, pop, R&B, hip hop and her powerful ballads. This release does not disappoint in any way. I, personally, like this CD better than `Emancipation'. I felt her last CD had a few too many filler songs where E=MC2 has none of that.
The CD opens up with "Migrate" with T-Pain. A song can never go wrong having T-Pain involved in it. It has a great beat, catchy hook and it is very melodic. It keeps up with the up-tempo song on a number of songs but, then she takes it to her balladeer roots on "I Stay In Love". This song is amazing. It screams pure Mariah through and through. I feel that every song on here is top notch and there are none that I skip over. I can picture almost all these songs being HUGE hits on radio. She sticks with the melodic, radio friendly sound.
Run out and get this CD now if you do not already have it. It is sure to be played, on the radio, for at least the next year and is sure to win numerous awards along the way as well.
