This Cd is far from imperfect!!
I want to start off by discussing the booklet. Right now the CD is only being sold in a deluxe soft-pack edition. the book is cool b/c it's in the fashion of a mini Elle Magazine. Inside she talks about everything from her home, her marriage to Nick & even what she really feels about her entire discography {omitting "Glitter" which sucks b/c it really is a great CD and I would really love to know what she thinks about it and why it was so slept-on!} this was a great idea to me b/c it really gave her lambs a real since of who she is for instance she considers herself a "jokestress" which is really cool! Nick's interview where he descibes the ultimate prank he played on her & her reaction was really cute as well! okay enough about that and onto the music, it's the real reason you are here anyway right? {lol}
"Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel" - Mariah Carey
First off, the CD was produced by both Mariah & The-Dream & his team, while I do LOVE Th-Dream & his artistry, I will admit that when I heard that she was working w/ him for the entire record I was a little apprehensive simply b/c The-Dream has this animation about him & his music that I love but I didn't think it would work for Mariah but I was wrong. they made an excellent team and it really shows the work that both of them put into this record.
"Betcha Gon' Know" - This is the leading track from the record. I will be completely honest, it's not my fave track & is the weakest not as a whole I mean, it is listenable but it sounds so much like The-Dream like the fast-paced singing and the animated vocal arrangement, even the lyrics. the only plus is the beat has a cool mellow vibe to it & it show cases Mariah's & The-Dream's ability to story tell. other than that, it's just an okay song. but it is just the prelude so maybe it was meant to just get you in the mood for the record.
"Obsessed" - we all know what this song is about. I really don't know why she still entertains that guy but I guess people can only take but so much even if this isn't her first Eminem diss record! { i.e. "Clown" from her very underrated "Charmbracelet" CD} I do like the song, she really goes in on him, I love how she says "seeing right through you like you're bathing in Windex" i thought that was so clever lol I also like how she goes "He's all up in my George Foreman" at the end. this shows Mariah's fun side & that this track really wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I love it!
"H.A.T.E.U." - this is by far my favorite song on the record! it has a really great slow vibe to it & the lyrics & vocal arrangement are bananas! it's about breaking up w/ an ex and still wanting them. you're telling yourself I can't wait until I getto the part where I hate you & want nothing to do w/ you b/c right now, I still need you! it's a very pretty ballad and her voice was so superb! this could very well be a single {it'd better be! - lol} and I know it could go #1!
"Candy Bling" - This is another good song. to me, I think this is about a young love where you are just so head over heels & the simle things made you smile like walks in the park or a burger at Arnold's lol but obviously you are too young to buy real jewelry so you give them ring pops & candy necklaces. "Candy Bling" how clever is that!? I was so tickled at the lyricism of this song. it's so cool & the beat is so smooth. it was meant to take you to that place and remember your first young love. this could very much be a hit single as well!
"Ribbon" - a really good song as well & like the other two tracks, could easily be a top 10 hit! it's about being w/ someone and he's really good at what he does {if you get my drift! ;-)} he's got you wrapped around their finger like "a ribbon w/ a bow on it!"
"Inseperable" - This song is pretty self-explanatory, it's about being w/ someone and being so in sync you can't be w/o one another, you're inseperable! it's a really cute song and I see this one as being more of a lamb favorite from the record.
"Standing O" - I love the lyricism of this song. it was so clever. it's about being w/ a guy who was so good at lying and playing the game that you just have to give him his props. thus, a standing ovation. it sucks b/c you actually loved the two-timing bastard! lol I almost sounds like it's what Ne-yo was going for when he wrote "Take A Bow" for Rihanna. it's a really good song.
"It's A Wrap" - another self-explanatory track. it's about being so over a guy that there's just no going back, you don't want to hear anything he has to say, it's over!! I love the old timey vocal arrangement in this song. I could see this one as a single as well!
"Up Out My Face" - this is one of my faves as well! I like how funny it is, it's about pretty much dating a loser and just being through w/ him. he still lives w/ his Mom has no goal or ambition and is going no where in life, and now he's not even w/ yu anymore!. like "Obsessed" this is a really fun record and you can tell that both her & The-Dream had so much fun making it. she even laughs in the background on a couple occassions! this will be another Lamb favorite from the record. i love it!
"More than Just Friends" - It's about wanting to be more than budds w/ a friend of yours but you don't know if he feels the same way and it sucks b/c you really think you guys would be perfect together! I'm sure we can all relate to this one! lol it's a really good song!
"The Impossible" - This is about a guy doing the unthinkable and getting through all those walls you built up to protect yourself and loving him even more b/c of it! it's a really pretty record!
"Angel" {The Prelude} - this is a sweet little prelude where Mariah is singing in her angelic whistle register. it has a really cool vibe to it and the beat is a smooth mellow sound that sounds like it could have been a whole song!
"Angels Cry" - It's a pretty ballad about not being w/ someone anymore & it hurt so bad that when he left, even the angels cried! this could be a hit too! it really hits you!
"Languishing {The Interlude}" - This is a simple lyric poem where she asks "how much do you really love me?" "would, you live for me?, die for me? would you reach for me if you saw that I was languishing?" it's very pretty and leads right into ...
"I Want To Know What Love Is" - this is my second favorite song on the record and the second single {but techinally first since "Obsessed" was deemed "leaked"} it's a really great remake of the Foreigner classic. I was skeptical about it at first b/c the original is a pwer ballad & I was like I don't know Mariah lol but I was really amazed & impressed. she really pulled it off it's sure to be a top 10 hit! the only thing I don't like though is that it is so short! it ends right when she starts to go in! there is supposedly a 5 minute version floating around. I would love to hear that one!
all in all it's a really great CD and is easily in my top 5 Mimi albums! she really showed that there is still a lot left in her & she isn't going anywhere any time soon!
my faves from the record are:
"H.A.T.E.U."
"I Want To Know What Love Is"
"Candy Bling"
"Ribbon"
"It's A Wrap"
"Inseperable"
"Up Out My Face"
"Standin O"
"Obsessed"
I give it an A+ perfect!

A must-have for all Mariah fans, it will include: - The CD - A 2nd Enhanced CD featuring the "Obsessed" video, a remix video, and 3 remixes - a 36 page Elle mini-magazine that's an inside look at Mariah. First came the emancipation, then came energy and power, and now come Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the new album by international superstar Mariah Carey, scheduled to arrive on September 29th. The first new single pick from Memoirs is "Obsessed,". The video for "Obsessed" is directed by Brett Ratner. "Obsessed" was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album. Memoirs was executive-produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the 12th studio album of Mariah's career, is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her RIAA platinum-selling album E=MC˛ (released April 15, 2008), and her worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (released April 12, 2005). Both were Soundscan #1 debut albums that made chart history for Mariah in the U.S. and numerous territories around the globe. The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. The album debuted at #1 on first week sales of 404,000 copies, Mariah's highest first week sales total (until E=MC˛;). Soundscan's biggest-selling album of 2005, Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (Grammy winner for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Three years later, E=MC˛; debuted at #1 on first week sales of 463,000 copies, which now stands as the highest first week sales total of Mariah's career. The album's success brought total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, distancing her even further from the pack as the top-selling female recording artist in history. E=MC˛ spun off four singles: "Touch My Body," "Bye Bye," "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," and "I Stay In Love." Of these, "Touch My Body" made history when it became Mariah's 18th #1 Hot 100 hit, thus surpassing Elvis Presley. "Touch My Body"'s two weeks at the top also marked Mariah's 78th and 79th cumulative career weeks at #1, which tied Elvis' long-standing all-time high of 79 weeks at #1, as calculated in Billboard.com. At the same time, Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.
