Free Music Notes for Broken EnglishFree Music Review: The work of a mature artist Hit: 4 Stars
Although I love her early 60-ies recordings (God, she was so fresh and beautiful!) this is the moment when Marianne decided to show her real face and it should be respected.I always found amusing how people are schoked by this album, because its obviously not for ordinary record-buyers, this is beggining of mature work by Marianne Faithful, not a pretty 60-ies doll but an serious artist who have something to say. From this album onwards i never heard anything else from her that wasnt just first class!
Free Music Review: cool classic Hit: 4 Stars
what a great album. the music sounds like Blondie or The Police on downers and the intensity and unrest erupts to a boiling point on the furious album closer "Why D'ya Do It?" the touching "Ballad Of Lucy Jordan" is a fine a fine showcase for Faithfull's whiskey ravaged voice; giving the proceedings a kind of Billie Holiday-esque charm. a respectable contribution to the world of rock and still influential to many bands almost 25 years later!
Free Music Review: Cigarettes and vodka can do this to you too Hit: 4 Stars
Love it! Sometimes you just need more than chocolate to make you feel better...
Marriane Faithful is more than Mick Jagger's Ex.. she is a talented and articulate song writer too. This album showcases her deep, smokey voice, but its not for the faint hearted. This is a great album to play after the big fight.. or break-up. Wallow in you misery withMarrianne.
Not recommended for those on anti-depressants.
Free Music Review: vinyl transformation - found this classic in the basement Hit: 4 Stars
This is a great alblum. I remember hearing "Broken English" first in 1979 on the "Duke of Madness" (Gerry Goodwin) show on WBCN in Boston while I was stationed in the USAF in New Hampshire. Totally trippy at 1am in the morning then and still relevant today. If you have the vinyl, convert it, man. Ripping vinyl is for the masses. This is a great alblum.
Free Music Review: Whare are the lyrics? Hit: 4 Stars
Just received my Xmas Cd from my daughter, (amazon shipped promptly). I have heard that this is Marianne's best, supposedly. Maybe I'm old, but I like to read the lyrics... Where are they? Island Records does not include them in the cd. Does anybody have them? What a nightmare to try to get them on the web! Thanks......
