Free Music Notes for Marie AntoinetteFree Music Review: "music for the party... and the morning after." Hit: 5 Stars
Good movie soundtrack, definitely excited about seeing the movie once it's released. My one very minor disapointment was that New Order's "Age of Consent" wasn't on the soundtrack. It's been played in some of the previews and I was hoping to find it here as well. Disc 1 is very upbeat and party like, whereas disc 2 is low key and chill. I love the modern take on this historical figure's life. Reminds me a little bit of the 1996 Romeo & Juliet movie and soundtrack. (which is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time!)
Get it, truly is "music for the party... and the morning after." (that's what it says on the cd!)
Free Music Review: marie antounette Hit: 5 Stars
this CD is the soundtrack from the recent film starring Kirsten Dunst. I enjoyed the film so much and was enthralled by the musical soundtrack, featuring songs which reflected the different phases of the life of the unfortunate Queen, from the wonderfully vibrant Intro Versailles, to the I want Candy (when MA and her friends were living the high life) to Fools Rush In (her affair with Fersen) right through to the tragic ending of the film where MA and Louis XIV are driven away from Versailles by the angry mob to Paris, to imprisonment and their eventual executions.
A very evocative and moving musical experience.
Free Music Review: Funky yet Relaxing Hit: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this soundtrack! Everytime I listen to it, the movie replays in my head. At the same time, this CD could easily be enjoyed by someone who hasn't seen the movie. The first CD has a very happy sound. It's like, light and funky rock; almost 80's. The second CD is mostly instrumental with a couple exceptions. It's definitely more somber, but still highly enjoyable. It's more serious, but still beautiful. I think people of all ages would enjoy these CD's. They're a very unique blend of new and old; much like the movie which I also highly recommend :)
Free Music Review: Sofia Coppola Rocks! Hit: 5 Stars
If you loved the movie and 80's music I'm sure you'll love these CDs.
I'm a house maker/a costume designer and I enjoy the Disc 2 (soothing mode) in the morning while I straight up the house and the Disc 1 (dancing mode) while I cook. Both CDs suit well when I'm working too.I Purchased this soundtrack because I wanted to listen to the beautiful piano musics ( yes, they are in the disc 2!!) . As a costume designer, I love the pictures on the booklet. Although my husband, a blues lover can't stand the 80's songs, they are good for paties as well.
Free Music Review: A Great Soundtrack To A Good Movie. Hit: 5 Stars
When I first read that Sofia Coppola was going to use contemporary music on the "MA" soundtrack,I was skeptical. However,I was wrong, the music she chose fit the action onscreen and even enhanced it,the The 1980's being in a way,as decadent as the 1770's!(in my opinion,anyway..) Also, there is enough 18th century music to satisfy the purists. (Like the wonderful Vivaldi violin concerto as well as the lovely sound of the harpiscord that to me personifies the era as much as the beautiful, elaborate clothing of the time. Give it a listen..!
