Free Music Review: Grandmaster of Decadence
Hit: 5 Stars

Marilyn Manson is the 21st Century's prime avatar of Decadence with a capital "D," by which I mean not the sort of white trash/dirty diapers scenario popularized by the tabloid press, but rather direct descent from 19th Century literary Bohemia. He's certainly the most literate rock star around; I can think of few rockers capable of writing, for example, the title song on "Eat Me, Drink Me," which brilliantly juxtaposes references to Nabokov and Carroll--"It's just a game," indeed. And he keeps getting better at that game, capable of tightly-constructed gems like "Heart-Shaped Glasses," with its almost unbearably catchy chorus and summoning of Young Americans-era Bowie, while maintaining his stance as the darkest Goth god ever in "If I Was Your Vampire." Manson's personal demons screech and gibber in the background--the disintegration of his marriage to cabaret postmodernist Dita van Teese, his relationship with starlet Evan Rachel Wood (to whom the album is dedicated)--but he fashions them into immaculately twisted sculpture for the delectation of listeners everywhere. That's talent, that's artistry, and that's why Manson will remain relevant as long as he feels like it. A gorgeous, shimmering piece of work and one of my favorite Manson albums thus far.

Free Music Review: Can't believe so many people don't like this album.
Hit: 5 Stars

I felt I had to write a review in defense of this record. I've been a Manson fan since before "Beautiful People" came out. And to me, the man has only gotten better over time. Yes his music has changed/evolved over the years, but all great artists evolve if they want to stay relevant.

The main complaint I hear about "Eat me, Drink Me" is that it's too self aggrandizing and too self pitying. I say, who cares? As long as the music is good and the lyrics mean something to me. That's all I care about. The music on "Eat me, Drink Me" is is phenomenal and the lyrics are very twisted and dramatic.

I would put this album right at the top of Manson's catalog along with "Beautiful People" as his two best. That's right, I don't think "Superstar" is his best work. I think it was his best tour, but not his best album, or even his third best album. I would give that to "Mechanical Animals".

So, while I definitely await and look forward to the reunion with Twiggy, I like where Manson is at right now and hope he doesn't go too far away from it. But I'm not worried. The man has NEVER disappointed me. He has always amazed me. And I'm sure he will again with "The High End of Low".

I can't wait.

Free Music Review: Manson dealing with lost love with touches of Alice In Wonderland
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll confess to being a fan of both the celebrity that is Marilyn Manson and the person known as Brian Warner. As other reviewers have stated, this is a different Marilyn Manson, or perhaps this is a Brian Warner record released under the Manson moniker, that is up to the individual to judge. Overall this is Manson's most human release, showcasing raw emotion (mainly hurt, sadness, biterness and loss due to his divorce)With this album we see that this is Brian Warner and not Marilyn Manson making a statement and showing us that he too, is human, and can feel loss. The Manson that preached hate against the world and was the god of *bleep* is not gone, I don't think, in the least. I personally think that this cd was basically Manson's (not so) sonic self-therapy and that even with this, parents will still complain and the sheepies will still deem him of the Devil, fans of the angry first three cds will probably not like this one unless they are open minded enough to take the evolution for what it is. Sure this is not another ACS or POAAF, but I have no complaints. Seeing Brian Warner on this cd was an unexpected, but welcome change
Who knows how much deeper the rabbit hole goes? I can't wait to find out

Free Music Review: Eat me, Drink me: the album that "will bring loud music back"
Hit: 5 Stars

as a marilyn manson fan, i would like to come out and say that manson's voice is acquired taste, not everyone would like it, and the rest of people absolutely love it, but on this album theres a slight change in his singing, some fans didnt like, many fans do.

as for content in this album, i feel that its very personal and/or emotional, some songs take you back to the early manson music, while others are very fresh, one of its many influences is glam rock, which is enjoyable, on the other what makes this album significant is that it may not really belong to an Era like other manson albums, after reading around on the internet, i had the feeling that manson made this album spontaneously and somewhere there exists an album unfinished and unreleased because this one was made over it.

in conclusion, this is a fine piece of art that combines well played instruments and beautiful idea's (of human emotions) that weave together what i think is the different stages of relationships, i would buy two copies of that just incase one gets ruined from replaying it :)
