Four years ago, an artist by the name of Marylin Manson, who at that point in his career had built a large fanbase but was still somewhat in the underground after two albums, released an album that not only made him a Superstar, but an album so incredibly controversial that it immediatly rocketed him to living-legend status. Two years later, he almost totally changed his image for the 80s glam-styled Mechanical Animals which turned a lot of casual fans away because of its softer, mellower, slower sound and put Manson on the receiving end of accusations of "selling out" Personally, I love all the albums, and, believe it or not, Mechanical Animals was my favorite...but each to their own. Anyway, while he touring for Mechanical Animals, the world was shocked by the Columbine massacre...Manson's first thought upon hearing about it was "I'm going to get blamed for this." Sure enough...he was. Not only was it a stupid thing to begin with, it was made even more crackheaded when the accusations continued to rain down even after it was revealed that the young terrorists didn't even like his music. Frustrated, Manson went into seclusion for months...and this album is the result. Bringing Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals together in sound, this album is simply awesome...fans of Manson old and new (as cliched as that is...) should by this album right away. The ONLY complaint I have about it is that many of the songs are a litte too short...but it's still a VERY worthy buy. And for all those hypocritical religious fanatics who condemn the man, go read his lyrics so you at least know what you're talking about...it makes one look incredibly STUPID to condemn something you haven't even tried to find out about about...any way, hope this helped...enjoy the album!!!

Free Music Review: Manson's most important album

I was never really a fan of Marilyn Manson and I'm still not a fan, but I do like Holy Wood. I usually listen more to rock than industrial, and from that perspective, Holy Wood is Manson's most important CD to date. I own all of his albums except for the singles, Mechanical Animals, and the remix album "Smells Like Children" although I have heard it a few times. Portrait was a decent debut album and Antichrist was a decent sophomore album, but it set the stage for Holy Wood. As far as I'm concerned, Animals never happened. Personally, I don't know where Animals came from. Animals was glam-rock crap. Holy Wood is, in my eyes, the follow-up to Antichrist.

Holy Wood shows a more intelligent Manson. The album was done much better than Antichrist. It's like the band learned how to play music. However, it's done without taking any of the anger and rebellion away.

I'm not an angry/suicidal teen kid or anything, I just enjoy the intelligence of Manson's lyrics. Manson is unfortunately taken out of context much too often. For example, in the Bible, book of Numbers, verses 17 and 18, God commands his people to kill all of the adults and "among the children" kill the males, and rape the females "who have not known Man by laying with him." (Remember that back then, girls were married out, and thus lost their virginity, around the time they started their menstrual cycle, basicially, around 10 or 11.) Of course, the Bible, as a whole work, is not meant to encourage child molestation. To say that Manson is responsible for Columbine is to say that the Bible is responisble for every act of sexual abuse committed against a child - Christians, read your Bibles, and PLEASE read the First Amendment. Marilyn Manson isn't the only one with disturbing words.

Free Music Review: Manson Strikes Back

We all know that Marilyn Manson was the first one blame for the shooting at Columbine. They said that his music, his look and his lyrics were the cause of this shooting. Manson strikes back with this album: Holy Wood, which is the first act of his trilogy with Mechanical Animals and Antichrist Superstar.

First of all, this Album is simply amazing! This is Manson best music effort yet. And I'll tell you why. When you listen to the CD, you realize that the words "Gun" and "God" always comes back. His message is clear; it's not him who his violent but the society that we live in. A society that create a generation to throw in the garbage after you use "Disposable Teens". A society control by marketing and publicist experts "Target Audience". A society that is going down the drain where God is dead.

Like I said before, this is Manson best music effort yet. And you can see that this album bring a lot of diversity, which binds his 2 previous album together. There's Metal, punk, Industrial, Techno and also some of the best songs from him.

But the best part of this Album is not the music but it's content. The more you listen to Manson's twisted lyrics, the more you realize that this album is the first act of his trilogy. Let me explain the way i see it. After seeing the way the society, he lives in, is decomposing pretty fast (Holy Wood). Manson hides himself in glamour and technology (Mechanical Animals) before taking control of a important spiritual revolution (Antichrist Superstar).

We really see how Manson is a sensible and intelligent writer. This album come with my highest recommandation. And to close this, the Art in this Cd is simply amazing, the pictures are really well done. Can't see what he will do next.

Free Music Review: HOLY WOOD IS NEEDFUL THING FOR WORLD.

2 years ago i bought my first Manson cd and it was MEC. ANIMALS. I liked it so much that aftwer few weeks i bought ACSS that is one of the best album in history just like PINK FLOYD'S THE WALL.MANSON is very special artist what you can hear listening his albums. HOLY WOOD is important album it is the end of trilogy-(part 1 ACSS,part 2 M.A. and part 3 HOLY WOOD) so if you have and if you like ANTICHRIST and ANIMALS you will like this album too.it is must have for every MM fan or rock/metal fan. The new album is centered on Adam, who has experienced the subject matter of both "ANTICHRIST SUPERSTAR" and "MECHANICAL ANIMALS". This third and final piece of a musical trilogy is the backdrop to the story of "HOLY WOOD", which he say is the darkest and heaviest offering from him for now.On this album MANSON inspired by the alchemical Adam Kadmon, who was thought to be an androgyne much like the one Manson portrayed on the cover of MECHANICAL ANIMALS.MECHANICAL ANIMALS was in fact an anagram: "Marilyn Manson is an alchemical man." Music and lyrics are mix of bouth ANTICHRIST and ANIMALS-some are slow and some are fast and heavy. I can't say much much about album because you have to listen it more than once to know what he had to say in songs and what is the meaning of album.only thing i can say that i like it and so will you.(cover of album and pictures are great) HOLY WOOD IS NEEDFUL THING FOR WORLD. This is just a beganing of MARILYN. he have just started ,he has lot of years in front of him and you will see all these people who say that he is mad or sick after 10 or 20 years will say that he is true artist and just heavyer version of JOHN LENNON or ROGER WATERS(pink floyd).
