Open your prayer guides to The Golden Age Of Grotesque 'cause Manson's invented a new religion. No seriously though you need to go get this album. This one will surely be the band's best. Not mentioned in the tracklisting above,the album starts off with a little intro before "reloading the matrix" into -> This is the new s**t. mOBSCENE is the first single and is laced with hooks and sugar coated lyrics. Manson seems to have a nack for brilliant word play and it sure shows on -> Doll dagga buzz buzz ziggety zag (whatever that means) not to mention the jazzy swing beat that's almost unlike the band.
The album sounds like a combination of all the other albums but only the best parts. In a bombshell you could say it's hard rock with an industrial feel but, strangely, it has a commercial touch. Trust me you won't play this at your next church fundraiser. Manson's explicit and loud and it's great. The band sounds huge (john5 really busts out on this one). You might hear hints of other bands on the record but that's what I think this album is: Everything that's been done just better.AMEN (to that)

Yes, you either love them or you despise them. It doesn't matter which congregation you belong, cause Marilyn Manson will always be lurking somewhere in the colossal world of music. The Golden Age of Grotesque is by far Manson's best piece of work and is with no doubt a masterpiece. The new German cabaret theme works well for the band, for it provides them with style and that sinister backbone. Evolving into a much more mature band, with a polished image and sound and a new bassist, Manson delivers an awesome package. The album reeks of high powered brutality combined with an uncanny attitude that is strictly Marilyn Manson. Golden Age of Grotesque is one of those albums that delivers hit after hit and will leave the listener mesmerized. It is clear to see that Manson puts in a lot of effort to develop a worthwhile and memorable piece of work that possesses replay value. With major hits like `Mobscene' and `Use Your Fist & Not Your Mouth', I recommend this album to most of the metal community. To the "marilyn manson needs jesus" person:I really don't understand how you were even able to get your review up there. First of all, you hardly even talk about the cd, and second, you somehow managed to bring your twisted, brainwashed religeon views into this. But now that you've started it, let me set you straight- there is no God. Get used to it. And now for the actual cd reviewing by someone who actually has listened to it. The cd was WONDERFUL! It was by far the best he's ever done! This was the first cd that got me hooked onto his music. The best song on the entire track has got to be mOBSCENE. Usually, I'll find a couple of songs I don't really like- not with this one. If you're a fan of his other stuff, chances are, you'll love this one. (Unless, of course, you're the person who wrote the "marilyn manson needs jesus" review, in which case, it doesn't even make any sense that you would be snooping around here considering you hate his music o so much.) So as long as you're not that person, you're all good to go.

I love Marilyn Manson. Lets get that out of the way right now. I think he is one of the most intelligent and talented performers out there. And this album is, simply put, brilliant. Everyone is arguing about this, however because it 'doesn't sound like Manson'. What these people fail to realize is this DOES sound like Manson. A new Manson.
Marilyn Manson is evolving, and shockingly well. When most musical artists try to change their styles, they dont' pull it off [Metallica]. But this transition is -flawless-. Catchy riffs, provocative lyrics.. It's all there folks, just witha slightly different sound.
'This is the new Sh*t' is a -very- powerful way to start this album off, and quite frankyl,t he title tells you everything you need to kowa obut this CD. It's new. And it's here to Stay. Followed up by a song like mOBSCENE and you know you've got a winner. Slut Garden, Saint, and Use your Fist are some of the highlghts of this CD, though they're all equally entertaining.

this is my first MM album, and im impressed, after hearing my first MM song (this is the new sh*t) i was hooked, he is the first artist that i have boughten most of their cds in a month, and posters, etc...BEST SONGS- this is the new sh*t, mOBSCENE, the golden age of grotesque, para-noir, ka-boom ka-boom, the bright young things, vodevil, doll dogga buzz-buzz ziggety-zag
GOOD SONGS- (s)AINT, slutgarden, spade, better of 2 evils
BAD SONGS- maybe just use your fist and not your mouth, (it never stood out)
the instrumentals r also VERY good, the only complaint is that there could have been a couple more songs, but all in all a GREAT cd, highly reccomended
P.S.- for all u ppl that said this is his worst album, u think this because antichrist is supposedly his best, and this one isnt like that, WELL DUH! cant u see he tries to go 4 a new sound each time, and new look, so get your head out of your A** and look at this album 4 what it truly is, GREAT!
