Free Music Notes for The Golden Age Of GrotesqueFree Music Review: a brand new KABOOM to marilyns music Hit: 5 Stars
Marilyn Mansons brand new album and what an album it is its very different to AcS, Hollywood and mechaimal animals(the albums of marilyns i have so far)it is a hevay rock album mixed with cabaret and is a brand new sound to his music. its one of his best albums Along with AcS it has more of a "cabaret" point of view to his songs but it works really well they also have a new heavy pounding bass player tim skold who fits the band perfectly!(although i miss twiggy) i suggest you buy this album now dont listen to other people who say this is a rubbish turn for a band because its artisticly great and musicily if your a true fan you'll love this if your new i sugest u buy his albums in order and you'll then realiese this is a superb album. Marilyns still got more albums to come!
Free Music Review: His Loudest Album Hit: 5 Stars
I've always(as many others) found Mansons music and lyrics to be loud, aggresive, fun and reflective of societal wares. Again he just shot forth another palm full of great rock/whatever on this CD. I don think I've ever heard him be so aggresive with either his lyrics or the music. You'll argue that maybe about Anti Christ Superstar, which was faster and loud and really awesome but this here is a continuation of Manson seeing the bigger picture of culture or lack of and living more and more. Fans seem to loose interest only when an artist seems to have left the core behind but Manson has not lost a damn thing. I love this guy and to see him change it up with newer sound and insight is absolutely mind blowing and greatly appriciated.
Free Music Review: Marilyn Manson: THE GOLDEN AGE OF GROTESQUE (2003) Hit: 5 Stars
In 2003, after a long three years since his last album, Marilyn Manson released his eighth album entitled, THE GOLDEN AGE OF GROTESQUE. For this album, Marilyn Manson brought in new member, Tim Skold, to replace Twiggy Ramirez after Twiggy made his departure from the band. The new lineup now features:
MARILYN MANSON (Origin of Marilyn Monroe + Charles Manson): All Vocals
TIM SKOLD: Bass + Guitars
MADONNA WAYNE GACY (Origin of Madonna + John Wayne Gacy): Keyboards + Synthesizers
GINGER FISH (Origin of Ginger Rogers + Albert Fish): Drums
JOHN 5: Guitars
Another album that turned out to be a complete success for Marilyn Manson. Another great buy for Marilyn Manson fans.
Free Music Review: a beautiful piece of art.... Hit: 5 Stars
I love how Manson has evolved (yet again) for this album. In bringing Weimar Germany back to "life" he has solidified his place as a true artist. Weimar Germany (1919-1933) was a glorious time for artwork and expressionism. The economic conditions may have been horrendous, but those conditions lead to the creation of some interesting art. Then, of course, the Nazis and Hitler slowly killed this movement, Hitler calling it "degenerate art". I can see why Manson would choose this time period to revive in an album. The same exact thing is happening in today's society. Censorship and government intervention is slowly killing all creatvity. Maybe Manson is showing us that history does indeed repeat itself?
Free Music Review: My first Marilyn Manson record Hit: 5 Stars
I think that "The Golden Age of Grotesque" is a good album. I guess it's supposed to be sort of a concept record about 1930's Berlin with "burlesque" stuff. Whatever, that's cool. I think metal today is sorely lacking in creativity anyway. My favorite songs are "This is the New S***","mobSCENE", "Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth", "slutgarden", and "Para-noir".
This is my first Marilyn Manson record, so I'm not a hardcore fan. I know it sounds nothing like "Antichrist Superstar", so hardcore Manson fans might not like this. But I think for Manson beginners like me, it's a good record to start with. I definitely want to buy a few Marilyn Manson records, thanks to "The Golden Age of Grotesque".
