Free Music Review: 5 stars for the music cd only, DVD is an easy 1 star
Hit: 5 Stars

This has to be one of his better works. This has some of the best qualities from the "Portrait" album, and the "antichrist" albums, yet still manages to maintain the fresh direction of holywood. there is only like one song on this album that i would say is "ok" meaning it wasn't bad, but wasn't that great either. It is someplace in the middle (sorry, haven't listened to it that many times) other than this one song, most of this album is very heavy, and catchy. Maybe better than "anti" but maybe not quite as good as "portrait". It is very dark, yet at times, energetic. MM vocals are at their best too.
Side note: I definitely recommend buying this, However it is a good thing you don't pay extra for the DVD because it is terrible: Summary - it is about 27 minutes of flashing images of MM, his band mates, and 2 girls tied together by latex outfits, with MM saying the same words over, and over, and over again...its bad, very bad, and he has the gull to call it a film, a piece of artwork. The DVD, unless i miss interrupted it, also claims those are the last words MM will ever speak, whatever that means! Don't pull a Kirk on us Manson....anyway, good cd, bad dvd.
Oh BTW - one final note: DID anyone notice how "mObscene" sounds like Faith No More's "Be Agressive"?? ...

Then this album is for you! Marilyn Manson never stops to amaze. Produced by Mr. Manson and newest member of the band, Tim Skold (formerly of MDFMK) we experience a diverse mix of swing, jazz and industrial rock all rolled into one explosive collection greatly influenced by the absinthe and pre-Nazi Germany. The bizarre art work of Gottfried Helnwein wraps this album nicely. In the back ground you can hear the crunch of heavy guitars and feel the sinister smiles. If you are not comfortable with change, this may not be for you. If you were looking for more Antichrist Superstar or Holywood, you will be greatly disappointed. Not to take away from his past incredible works of art, Manson is not the type to sit in one place and keep spinning his wheels, he likes to keep things interesting. The Golden Age of Grotesque is an innovative breath of fresh air to the recent mostly mundane droning sounds of the current hits. It was a real treat to see what would happen when changes were made from former guitarist Twiggy Ramirez to Tim Skold. Love the change. Thank you Mr. Manson.

All I can add about the bonus DVD Dopplehertz, is that it is very different, to say the least. It would be more appreciated, I imagine, by fans of David Lynch.

Free Music Review: Marilyn Manson is back, and this time it's a revolution.
Hit: 5 Stars

Marilyn Manson has got to be my favorite artist in this sad world we live in, and The Golden Age Of Grotesque is his greatest work of art to date. I just bought it today, and it has to be the best Manson CD of all time. It is a lot darker than say, Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood combined, and it definately explains why Manson waited so long to put it out, it's been 3 years since his last LP, but it was worth the wait, and he has come back with a dark bang of classic Dada influenced revolutionary goth rock, and there's no way this CD lacks in style and the classic Manson. With a lot of Electronic and industrial influence, this CD, produced by the band's bassist Tim Skold, is exceptionally unique and definatley different from his other albums. I think people fear change, or they think all of Manson's CD's should sound the same, but not me, I think change can be good, especially in Manson's case, because each time he brings us something a little different, but it still has that Manson feeling to it, and we shall Respect THAT!The bottome line... Marilyn Manson is God and he's come to save us all! The new Revolution of The entertaining Manson Machine is finally here, and it's better than ever. Go buy the CD, you will not be sorry.

Free Music Review: Metal Industrial to the core
Hit: 5 Stars

I as many of you have grown up listening to all Marilyn Manson's albums. If so, you know many of the variations of themes and music he dives into. This album is by far the hardest of them; even AntiChrist Superstar wasn't quite this heavy and raw. It is a MUST buy. Contrary to opinion of his last album, "Holywood" which left me hanging at the end of it as it did to some others I hear, these songs and this album have deep elements. A lot seems to be focused about his frustrations and angst at actor/girlfriend Rose McGowan who both broke apart a couple of years ago. This is amusing on the album, yet cleverly crafted to make it go subconscious. You will find yourself singing to the songs even when you're not listening. Other themes may be back to his days of AntiChrist Superstar crossed with new, fresh music and hard hitting guitar riffs and indutrial beats. On the album, song 2 "This is the New Sh*t" says it all. This song is awesome and impressive. This was a well-thought out, artistic album with lots of attitude. In my opinion, CDs like this are few and far between today. Music should stimulate the mind and connect you with different perspectives through listening rather than hearing songs. This album does that. A+

Free Music Review: The Doppelganger shows itself.
Hit: 5 Stars

Doppelganger: Meaning "double walker" a doppelganger is a shadow-self that accompanies every human.

The Golden Age of Grotesque is everyone's personal Doppelganger. It shows that we all perceive our lives in a huge mirror and that we aren't truly alive, we are just reflections of real life.

This album really gives you an in-depth look inside what Qabalists would call "Nepesh" meaning (Animal Soul)

If I had one album I would place into a time capsule for future generations to listen to 100 or 1,000 years from now to know what true rock music is, TGAOG would be my first choice with "This Is The New S**t" , "Use Your Fist, Not Your Mouth" & "Doll-Daga-Buzz-Buzz-Ziggity-Zag" underlined to express these are the standards that must be met if you want to make a true rock album.

Manson/Fish/Gacy/5/Skold = 5 members and the number 5 on The Tree of Life is "Geburah" meaning (Strength) no surprise here, this is Marilyn Mansons "Strongest" album to date.

Marilyn Manson has breathed new life into the nostrils of Rock.

~S~

P.s. The short film "Doppelherz" is absolutely amazing.

I have a whole new appreciation for Siamese Twins...
