Free Music Notes for The Golden Age of GrotesqueFree Music Review: Goddamn Hit: 5 Stars
This is by far the best Manson CD to date, and probably the best album i've ever listened to. I was absolutely blown away by the complexity of the song structures and melodies. Almost every track is ludicrously catchy, and yet still retains that dark, nightmarish sound that makes his work stand out so much. Be forewarned, the first few minutes will sound [unacceptable] because of the meer fact that he's never tried anything like this before. But i got used to it immediately, a similar effect to the uniqueness of Mechanical Animals. And with the abscence of bassist Twiggy Ramirez, the industrial sound of Tim Skold has improved the style and added a sense of power and energy that Holy Wood failed to live up to. Holy Wood was extremely good, but some felt it was too dark, and lacked any real energy. Golden Age of Grotesque takes all of the great qualities of his past albums, and molds it all into one great masterpiece. mOBSCENE is the new Fight Song, and Spade is my favorite song, mostly because of it's fragility and sense of pain. And since he based every song after his dreams and absinthe trips, it's not surprising that many of these songs sound like nightmares. Buy it, now! You won't regret it ...
Free Music Review: The Golden Age Of Grotesque Hit: 5 Stars
I'm posting this again, because I'm sick of all of those "1 star ratings". Your sole reason for giving this Album a 1 star rating, is because it's not the same as his previous Albums. But honestly, if a singer/artist were to keep doing the same old things, wouldn't that get a bit old? And to answer my own question, yes it would. Marilyn Manson realized this and wanted to come out with something unique and fresh. He made it specifically clear that his new Album was not going to be like his previous ones. He truly understood that he needed to reinvent himself.**which he had done**. You are also further proving his point; for you are saying it's different and not like the other CD's he has created. Which is exactly what he has done, made this CD different. You are just giving him what he wants to hear. This Album deserves a 5 out of 5 stars, because he has again reinvented himself and created something unique and fresh. **Another note, his album Holywood was the same has his previous albums and it sold poorly. Further more made Marilyn Manson understand he needed to reinvent himself. If you go to the Billboard charts his new album is #1 in the United States and all across Europe**
Free Music Review: Golden Age of Perfection Hit: 5 Stars
Marilyn has always done a good job on all of his CD's and songs and has quite a history ranging from his debut in Protrait of an American Family, then the re-mixed Smells Like Children. From there on Manson delivered 1996's Antichrist Superstar followed by his glamified Mechanical Animals to the underrated Holy Wood. Now with ten years under his belt, he gives us a world of Pre-war 1930s Berlin complete with absinthe as the official drink and caberet dancers. This is a world that Manson seems perfectly happy in and fits the part better than expected. The CD starts out with the intro, a good start to what is to come. Then This Is the New Sh*t follows a good song that fits the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack as well as the Golden Age. mOBSCENE, a bouncy starter single and good video and Doll-Digga-Buzz-Buzz-Zigety-Zag, a throwback to the 1930s. All of the songs are good but out of all them the best are Ka-Boom Ka-Boom and Vodevil. The two shine brighter than long lost diamonds in a coal mine. Marilyn has come very far over the years and may not be so shocking anymore, but he makes up for that in great songs and terrific performances. Congratulations Mr. Manson on the terrific new CD!
Free Music Review: How does he do it? Hit: 5 Stars
Marilyn Manson's first albums were, in my opinion, way too weird and distorted. Anything before Antichrist Superstar wasn't even close to music. But in 1998, the release of "Mechanical Animals" was Manson's big breakthrough. Every single one of the songs on that album was really good. Especially "The Last Day On Earth" and "Coma White". Then came out "Holy Wood". Agian, every single song was fantastic and very original. 'Count to Six and Die" was at the time spooky and beautiful, intimate and real, which proves that Manson is capable of different genres. And finally, "The Golden Age of Grotesque" was even better than "Mechanical Animals" and "Holy Wood" combined. Its 30's Goth style combined with its modern feel gave it an unique charm that only Manson can pull off. To sum up, every one of his albums is better than the previsous one. Imagine how good his next one will be?
PS: On top of being an incredible musician, Marilyn Manson has participated to the soundtracks of many films. Here's a list of the most famous ones:
Queen of the Damned (Warner Bros.)
Resident Evil (Columbia)
The Matrix Reloaded (Warner Bros.)
Free Music Review: "The death of art?" I think moreso a climactic explosion. Hit: 5 Stars
It's most definately been a long road for the scattered members of Marilyn Manson. Grotesque shows us this, and with it; how it was traveled, and will continue to be. The loss of bass player Twiggy promply awoke something within Manson, as if to say "I don't care anymore. I'm going to do what I want to do, regardless." This being said, the album has more push and soul than any of his previous efforts. This seems to be an extremely personal journey, and he wants to take us with him. So how is the trip you may ask? Beautiful. From the eerie "Thaeter" into "This is the new sh*t", all the way from "Ka-boom ka-boom" and "Vodevil", this album is unrelenting. Never before has the listener been so engaged into the mind of the man. We get to know him personally; every fan's dream, and some I'm sure a nightmare. The guitars crunch with never a pause, vocals hitting new ranges never before seen, and a new member that fits into the puzzle so well it's almost frightening. "Obsequey", the last track will have you thinking all day long. Not to mention the DVD. A must have for any fan of music in general. Long live Marilyn Manson, our Antichrist Superstar.
