Free Music Review: Obscenity is Desire, in so many ways.
Hit: 5 Stars

In this new release, the man who harbors so many interesting attractions puts not his political or religious understandings on display, but rather himself. Manson has woven an intricate phenomenon in this album, and it should not be passed up. The musical industry perpetually cries out for something different, a tangible flavor. This metaphor is completed by the spice of this new album delivered by Marilyn Manson. A new album that sounds so good to me, it seems to leave a taste in my mouth that i will continue to savor for a very long time. Wit is matched with attitude, and creates a very powerful sentiment. It's so good it's obscene... Or does the greatness come from reveling in obscenity? A very intricate balance of words that you just might have to listen to this time around, rather than push into the back of your mind. You will sit, and listen to every song. Maybe not all at once, but when you are ready for the next step: you will gladly take it. "I'm hoping this hook gets caught in your mouth"

Free Music Review: The Tainted (s)AINT
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is exquistely filthy. It reaks of Vaudevillian punk recklessness and Dada Death Rock to make Porn to.

With the title track, I fantasized I was slinging bottles of Absinthe with Manson while Ginger played the drums with his head and PoGo molested the keys. Spade and (s)AINT dripped with a certain GOTH THUG attitude you'd imagine P. Diddy remixing. mOBSCENE, The Bright Young Things , Use Your Fist...and Vodevil reminded me how good it is to have your fist in someones mouth-or another orifice.

This is what makes Manson great. he has come full circle artistically and yet he's changed the circle into a box and burnt it to the ground.

It mixes the childlike inhibitions of Portrait and SLC, the raging hatred of ACSS, the melodic melancholia of MA, the ... away attitude of OmEga, and the lyrical genius of all prior albums combined.

This album is as real as art can get. It's a no-holds barred strip joint throw down dressed in Pinstripes and topped off with a top hat, just to make sure it looks good.

Free Music Review: Just for Fun
Hit: 5 Stars

Manson's latest continues in the musical vein of Holywood, blending the abrasiveness of Antichrist Superstar with the tunefulness of Mechanical Animals. The lyrics, however, aren't centered on drugs and the occult. Instead, it's a more subtle vulgarity that's still unmistanagly Manson. This is a wise move, as the Satanic shock rock appeal is wearing thin 7 years after his breakthrough with Antichrist Superstar. In 2003, Emenem is now the most controvercial artist. Another good thing is a lot of the younger Mansonites are now thankfully gone, as they are a juvenile embarassment to both Manson and Goth. Forget the MTV appearances and videos and the countless magazine covers that gives rise to his bonefide celebrity status; what matters is his music. If you liked Holywood and Antichrist Superstar, you will like Golden Age of Grotesque. Forget the Satanic appeal- there are many much more extreme bands playing black metal that fill that void. Grotesque is a more mature Manson that still is a threat to Christianity.

Free Music Review: Why is everyone hung up on ACSS
Hit: 5 Stars

As far as the music goes, this CD is his best yet. It was refreshing to hear this CD...the band has grown so much over the past decade.

Who would want to hear ACSS part II anyway? Then people would criticize him for not being original. Its time to move on and explore new realms, and rock badly needs people like Manson these days, believe me.

It took balls for Manson to branch out into previously uncharted territory with this CD. Sure "God is Odd" but there are other things to sing about too. This man is such a freakin' genius I'm glad to hear him do songs about other issues besides religion.

One of the BEST parts of the CD is Manson getting back at his critics...on Vodevil, The Better of Two Evils, and especially The Bright Young Things "we know who we are and what we want to say, and we don't care who's listening" LOVED IT.

Its amazing how great the band sounds today, most bands are lucky to get 1 'decent' album onto the shelves, Manson just keeps on delivering top-notch rock.

Free Music Review: Manson Finally Back
Hit: 5 Stars

On listening to this for the umpteenth time, I think Manson captures the mood that he wants to capture - hardcore cabaret. It works really well and I like this album a lot. But there is absolutely no depth to it, which I think is the point. It reminds me of the shallowness that was Mechanical Animals, but MA managed to sneak in a little substance. This one really doesn't - so the only thing bad is that I tend to play Holy Wood and AntiChrist Superstar a little more often that Mechanical Animals or Golden Age.

It's a fun album and that's about it. Lots of cool visuals, neat videos and a great stage performance (as usual.) The one track that has withstood the novelty of the theme: the main title song, Golden Age of the Grotesque. It's as original as anything Manson has ever done.

The DVD is interesting the first time you see it, but mainly I think it's supposed to be like a background DVD to play on a loop during a party, with the sound down.
