Free Music Notes for The High End of LowFree Music Review: Eat Me Drink Me was Better ! Hit: 4 Stars
I would have to say this isn't a bad cd by any means. I have purchased MM for years and enjoyed his music. But I have to say I have always been more of his Coma Black type of theme. In other words the more mellow and emotional side of mansion and the songs with more groove to them. "2007's Eat Me Drink Me" I would have to say was his most solid effort to date. This album has some great songs on it as well Like "Devour". I just wish that Manson would get in touch with his emotional side again like he did on Eat me Drink Me. Those lyrics and the musicianship on that album was magnificent. If I was your Vampire, Putting the hole in happiness, Evidence , Just a car crash away. Where are the songs like that on this album ? Where are the beats the synthesizers and the emotions those songs achieved ? This album is good don't get me wrong just weak in some parts. Keep up the great music and the evolution I with you ! The hard stuff was good for its time but now he is evolving into artist more like IAMX, MS KITTIN, and Ladytron. The next album I hope he evolves even more and takes it to another level.
Free Music Review: Better than EMDM but not as good as previous material. Hit: 4 Stars
The tittle for this review pretty much sums it up. This is a good album and it is better than the prior album (Eat Me Drink Me) that so many of us Manson fans were dissapointed with. The High End Of Low isn't an instant classic and doesn't compete with Manson's musical trilogy (Antichrist Superstar, Holywood, and Mechanical Animals) but it is a fine album nonetheless. My favorite song is the bluesy "Four Rusted Horses" and my second favorite song is probably the glam sounding "Devour". Songs like "WoW", and "Arma Godd...f...geddon", and "We're From America" are Manson's signature industrial rock anthems. And the song "Running To The Edge Of The World".....well that song doesn't sound like a Marilyn Manson song at all....err, not shure what to think of that song yet. Anyways, if you hated EMDM, this album is better but don't expect another Antichrist Superstar....those days are history.....this is the Manson of today.
Free Music Review: See a new beginning rise behind the sun. Hit: 4 Stars
After hearing the lead-off single, "We're From America," I was almost completely positive that High End of Low was doomed to be Manson's worst album and a final confirmation that he has indeed lost his creative edge as an artist. Thankfully, I was wrong. High End of Low features some of Manson's best stuff. Everything that's made him great in the past is here. And I've come to recognize and deeply appreciate how much he has matured as a person and musician over the years. This is not an album to miss this summer.
"Four Rusted Horses" is dark, bluesy and pure Manson.
"Into The Fire" is one of the saddest and most beautiful Manson songs ever written.
"Running to the Edge of the World" is similarly beautiful and reflective.
"Wight Spider," "Pretty as a $," "I Have to Look Up to See Hell," and "Armageddon" are some of the standouts.
Free Music Review: Thank god he's back Hit: 4 Stars
You used to be able to buy a Marilyn Manson album without hearing any of it first. Even if Holy Wood sounded nothing like Smells Like Children, which sounded nothing like Mechanical Animals, you knew you were getting quality, very "listenable" music. But then someone's cocaine habit caught up to them, he decided to fire his band (except for Tim Skold), and release one of the worst albums of all time. Seriously, did ANYBODY enjoy Eat Me, Drink Me? Thankfully, Manson got some sense (and some band members) back, and came out with a great new album. Maybe he's going a little too commercial (a "postcard ad" for Manson ringtones? Seriously?), but in an era where Lil' Wayne and the American Idol Top 5 are the only ones selling albums, I've FINALLY found something I'm willing to spend my money on (and even pay extra for the "bonus disc")!

Free Music Review: Makes me love Manson again Hit: 4 Stars
After being somewhat non-plussed about Golden Age of Grotesque and extremely disappointed by Eat Me Drink Me I didn't have high expectations for The High End of Low-
...but I was pleasantly surprised!
This album sounds a bit like Portrait of an American Family meets Mechanical Animals meets Aenima (Tool), which is a very good thing. There are some headbanging rockers (Arma-mother--$%^geddon, We're from america), some mellow goth chill-outs (I want to kill you like they do in the movies, 15), and some rock ballads that really grow on you. I've been listening non-stop for the last three days and it keeps getting better and better. Definitely his best album of the last 10 years, the return of Twiggy has really made a big difference. <3
