Agree with reviewer McGovern on most, but would like to point out one thing: Mario Lanza's Celeste Aida here may not be his best ever, but it's still more heroic and expressive than anybody else's I've heard, and I mean anybody. Could say the same for the clarity and richness of most of this CD...but sometimes I just don't understand the selections. You get all this great stuff, then comes a so-so Vesti la Giuba, and a Nessun Dorma which is absolutely dreadful. Nevermind. Skip past one or two bad ones, and overall this CD's a marvelous buy.Free Music Review: Fantastic, should be given a rating of 10 stars

This CD is truly one that everyone who loves the tenor voice whether it is singing pop, operetta, or opera, must add to their collection. Some of the arias such as the Andre Chenier aria "Come un bel di di maggio," plus Giordano's "Amor ti vieta," Leoncavallo's "Un tal gioco, credetemi" and Cilea's "Lamento di Federico" are exquisite. Another highlight, the duet from Madama Butterfly, "Stolta paura, l'amor," with Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin.Free Music Review: Unbeatable

The music on this CD is exceptional, Mario Lanza at his very best. I will be listening to this CD often enough to wear it out. If you are an Opera buff or just a Lanza Fan this CD will satisfy. I am prejudiced toward Mario Lanza I think he had the best voice of
any opera tenor I have ever heard to date. He was by far the best
crossover singer in this category. I particulary wanted a recording of
Nessun Dorma by Mr. Lanza. The rest of the album is just as good.

This CD of mario is absolutely fabulous. It is the only recording I have managed to find of him singing Nessum Dorma. It is not to be missed. One of operas greatest.
