Free Music Notes for All the RoadrunningFree Music Review: A match made in heaven Hit: 4 StarsKnopfler's throaty rumble and Harris' angelic lilt seem too perfect and, in places, the album comes across a bit glib in nature, but when it works it's absolutely wonderful.
Free Music Review: Not Dire Straits Hit: 5 StarsThis is a wonderful CD. The expected detailing in the Guitar work from Mark Knopfler is there. It continues his interest in American Western and Country Blues music. You might even call it a followup album to his collaboration with the late Chet Atkins. I didn't know what to expect with the mixing of his voice and Emmlou's, but I shouldn't have worried with both known for great taste and sensibilities. It works great. It is a somewhat somber album, but with some exceptions, like the anthem for couples "This Is Us" being an irrestable toe-tappin, so much fun song.
It is not a Dire Straits album. It is primarily accoustic backing Marks legendary guitar riffs. And it is one of those rare albums that appeal to men and women equally.
Free Music Review: CD review - Emmy Lou & Mark Knoffler Hit: 4 StarsI love the two voice blends. This CD grew on me - not my favorite but the two Artists are excellent together. The Songwriting is not the best from both of them but the blend of their styles is really interesting and a beauitful blend. I hope they will do more together. You can't Beat Emmy Lou and Mark as Artists.
Free Music Review: Stunning Hit: 5 StarsSo there is still good new music being made. What makes a good song? For me its one that sticks in your head and the little voice in your head keeps playing it or parts of it for you. I have listened to this album just every day since I bought it. Such an unexpected collaboration of Knopfler and Emmy Lou I just find it a stunningly pleasant easy to listen to album. Mind you I'm glad the words are supplied as Marks diction is , well, typically Mark.
Free Music Review: Awesome recording!!! Hit: 5 StarsThis joint effort is likely to put a huge smile on the face of anyone who enjoys listening to either of these two sensational artists. Mark and Emmylou have produced a multi-faceted and highly lyrical CD; there is all kinds of variety and styles and a warm, rich vocal quality accompanied by wonderful instrumental gems of expression. This is one of the best albums I've listened to in some time!! Do not miss this special treat!!!
