Free Music Review: Why only three stars? Well...
Hit: 3 Stars

Here's the deal : you have to be a country music lover. Each of these songs separately is excellent; the first four songs alone are a mini-Knopfler CD of the highest quality, and could easily fit on Dire Straits albums, perhaps especially the rockabilly-tinged "On Every Street." On "This Is Us," the tempo is vintage Straits, Knopfler's elegant and melodious guitarwork is superb throughout the album, restrained and elegant yet as essential as a blistering solo from his rock heyday. After those first four songs, though... as I said: you have to love country music. Personally, I begin to not doze off but be so bored that I wish I could doze off.
Harris seems to specialize in adding her Nashville cachet and golden pipes to ageing rockers these days, but she does much more for Knopfler than she did for Neil Young. Her voice is so different from Knopfler's that, although at first she seems to play second banana to his overwhelming presence, slowly you realize that she brings a whole new dimension to his mournful, somewhat monotonous voice. If I could digest a full hour of country without getting a rash, I would give this five stars. I can't, so here's three, hoping this assessment is helpful to those who feel the way I do.

Free Music Review: What a great album
Hit: 5 Stars

I've loved Emmylou for a long time now, the whole family has. She's up there with Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, one of those singers we want to hear sing all the time who can't be here personally. I first heard Emmylou at my girlfriend's house at least thirty-five years ago and never forgot the impression. You almost feel that these singers you love and play all the time are part of the molecular structure of your house and your life. These are like the hymns people used to sing on Sunday together and to themselves during the week in the days before electronics. However that may be, this collaboration with Mark Knopfler is terrific, there's not a bad track on the record and some are great- especially "This is Us", a great baby boomer generation song.

Very well produced. Superb arrangements. Mark Knopfler is an excellent singing companion to the great, self-effacing but angelic Emmylou. There's a nice sexual balance to the whole thing.

Free Music Review: Calming , Cool, Relaxing
Hit: 5 Stars

Lovely combination of voices, so cool and easy. Listen whenever I'm under pressure (or not)....it brings me back down.

Free Music Review: Long hauls perfection
Hit: 4 Stars

Perfect music for looong hauls :) Reminds me good old times while travelling through the US. Cheers from Poland.

Free Music Review: best album of that year, great combination
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is fantastic! 2 great talents combine for fantastic collaboration. The songwritting is suberb, the musicanship is precision, the beat uplifting, and the harmonizing is beautiful. I work in a book store that had this on store play with a number of other new cds and during my 1 1/2 years working and listening, this is the only one I never tired of hearing.
