Free Music Review: I Love Mark Knopfler but...........

I am a huge Mark Knopfler fan but my feeling is he mailed this one in. The whole disc is very very low key and I don't think the lyrics are up to his creative talent. I've listened to the disc three times now hoping it would grow on me but nothing so far. I'm hoping for better next time.Free Music Review: There's such a thing as too laid-back

I really love Mark Knopfler's music - the folk, the rock, the whole collection. He's fine songwriter, and that voice...well, it's the sexiest thing I've ever heard.
But this album was a bit of a disappointment. The first track, "True Love will Never Fade," is great songwriting and beautifully sung. There are a few other standout tracks, too, but as I listened to the album, I started to think "hey, where's the guitar playing?" Then I started to think "would it kill you to rock a little?" And then utter dismay - one song features what seems to be a soprano saxophone! Argh! Nothing on a Mark Knopfler CD should make me think of Kenny G!
The album grew on me a bit after several listens, but it's not nearly as charming or as musically interesting as some of his earlier work. If you're a Knopfler fan, by all means buy this one, but if you're just checking him out, maybe start elsewhere in his back catalogue ("Golden Heart" or "Shangri-La," perhaps).

This is a slightly biased review as Mark Knopfler can't make a bad CD in my opinion. This is one of his best efforts. His style is truly unique and I always look forward to his next offering.Free Music Review: excellent piece of art!!

Mark Knopfler' new cd..'to kill crimson' delivers!! this has some crafty song work, insight,hooks,melody,style,simplicity, and a coool vibe! I havent let this one out of the cd player for a few days now! the title song is perfectly set..beautifully written..the rest just flows with grace and effortless genius! He is a master song writer and a true arts!! I could go on and on on the rant but I will stop. if you are a fan of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler YOu will NEED this to add to the BEST OF COLLECTION!!! Free Music Review: Best of 2007

Quite possibly the best CD release of 2007.
My son turned me on to this. The songwriting, delivery and production are superb.
