Free Music Review: Instantly drawn in
Hit: 5 Stars

Always loved Dire Straits but love Mark Knopfler's solo work even better. I was instantly drawn in by this disc. Loved it from first song to the last. Can't wait to invest in some of his other solo albums. Wouldn't have known to even check out his solo efforts if not for satellite radio. Why don't the crappy local stations (Dallas-Ft. Worth) play music like this and some of the other amazing artists that I am now discovering through XM? And why on earth is satellite radio not catching on? Anyway, sorry about the rant.... I'm thrilled to have this in my collection.

Free Music Review: Raw Knopfler, finally with only his own regional influence
Hit: 5 Stars

This fifth solo album from Mark covers territory that has been sorely missed out of his previous solo albums. A set list of songs primarily influenced by his life in the UK, rather than heavy doses of his always-wonderful interpretations of American music. Knopfler's songs have obviously always had Scottish, Irish, and GB influences, but this is the first, in my mind, which showcases them. Kill To Get Crimson is all at once sentimental, meditative, melancholy, and joyous. A profoundly important piece to the grand jig-saw puzzle that is Mark Knopfler's musical legacy.

Free Music Review: Knopfler on a roll
Hit: 5 Stars

I couldn't disagree more with the review panning Knopfler's other non-Dire Straits works and in particular the Ragpicker's Dream. I have been extremely impressed with the progression of his sound in his solo career and this album has the characteristic Knopfler vocalizations with his outstanding guitar work that is so characteristic of this great artist. Can't wait for more. His sound is much more mature with themes reflecting his growth since the early Dire Strait days. I can't wait for more from this superlative musician and distinctive vocalist.

Free Music Review: A SUPER CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this CD after hearing "Punish the Monkey" on the radio, and not being able to get it out of my head. (WARNING: Don't listen to that song too much, or you will have it going through your head all the time! Punish the Monkey..... Punish the Monkey....) This whole CD is wonderful, you can just put it on and play it straight through and then start over again! It's that good. I've become a Mark Knopfler fan after purchasing "All the Roadrunning," his CD with Emmylou Harris. Also an excellent CD. I highly recommend buying them both!

Free Music Review: Such talent!
Hit: 5 Stars

It's hard to describe the measure of talent that is displayed by Mark Knopfler in this enchanting effort. If you were to put in equal measure a bit of world-weariness displayed by Springsteen in Devils & Dust with the optimism displayed by Christian Floyd in Dreams Into Daylight, as well as a host of other influences and throw on top of all of that Knopfler's signature dynamic lead guitar style, you'd still only describe a shade of the brilliance of Kill to Get Crimson. I simply can't say enough good things about this CD!
