Mark Knopfler's latest offering is an amazing collection. The usual guitar riffs that are his signatures are all here. What amazes me is the amazing depth of this album. The piece "Heart full of holes" always tugs at my heart. While this album sounds more British than his previous couple of albums, it is definitely one of his more mature works. All the songs are great, but there are a couple that really stand out: "Heart full of Holes", and "Secondary Waltz" come to mind right away. Mark Knopfler' new cd..'to kill crimson' delivers!! this has some crafty song work, insight,hooks,melody,style,simplicity, and a coool vibe! I havent let this one out of the cd player for a few days now! the title song is perfectly set..beautifully written..the rest just flows with grace and effortless genius! He is a master song writer and a true arts!! I could go on and on on the rant but I will stop. if you are a fan of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler YOu will NEED this to add to the BEST OF COLLECTION!!!Free Music Review: Next level

Mark finally reaches the next level of professionalism. The guitar is not as prominent as on his other releases, yet it is woven into the pattern of music and played with (typical) perfection. More of ensemble work indeed, but the guitar still leads, creates harmony and transitions. The whole album feels as one complete piece, alike to say a piano concerto rather than a book of songs. KILL TO GET CRIMSON is the work of a mature artist very comfortable and skilled in his art and craft. Knopfler here makes his song stories into soft watercolors and vivid oils that take on movement with a pristine soundtrack. His voice is full and his guitar performance effortless, set in sparse, tasteful arrangements. The rich recording and elegant production by his longtime engineers and musical partners, Chuck Ainlay and Guy Fletcher, add the final artistic touches.Free Music Review: Excellent CD

I really enjoyed this CD which was written in a very laid back style. If you are looking for a CD of all Sultan's of swing type songs this is not it though definitely the talent of Mark Knopfler's guitar work is shown in it. The album covers many of the things the common man runs into in his daily grind and I especially love Punish the Monkey which is so relavant to many people. Wonderful album and I am going to give one as a present to my sister for Christmas.
