Free Music Review: Subtile music for music lovers
Hit: 5 Stars

I got to say, when I first listened to this album I was a little disappointed. All those slow songs, and none with the solos like, let's say telegraph road. But at the second listening I begun to discover the magic of this album. It gets beneath your skin, it's the magic of Knopfler's guitar and his lyrics. I bought the album in europe, and I must say, one more matinee is maybe the best song of the album. It's a very personal opinion, but no other song made me feel the way that one did. Mark Knopfler has become one of the greatest storyteller there are. But this is not a album for someone who only likes charts-music, you really have to love music. It's like meeting someone, you gotta give him time to show you his charm. So, if you wanna go into an everlasting relationship, buy this cd and live it.

Free Music Review: sailing to philidelphia
Hit: 5 Stars

the title song "sailing to philidelphia" is a fantastic example of this cds content. like each of the other tracks, "sailing to philidelphia" takes the listenr to a specific place. i was so taken by ths song alone, i looked up the story of mason and dixon on the internet and found out they were friends before they got on the ship to the new world. the music, arrangement, and vocals by both knopfler and taylor are nothing less than extrodinary.i cant stop listening to the whole album the imagery and sounds are so unique and powerful. i wish there was a video showing how this cd was produced or better yet a performance on video of all the songs. congratulations to all the people responsible for this fantastic collection and i hope mark blows them away at the grammys......

Free Music Review: I Love This CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

For anyone who was a Dire Straits fan and a Mark Knopfler fan, you MUST have this CD. Of course, the guitar playing is great (it is Mark Knopfler afterall) and the production allows you to clearly hear each and every note. The songs themselves; well the first two alone are worth the price of the CD. The title track, with it's historical ballad lyrics, is a beautifully sung duet by MK and James Taylor. Van Morrison even joins MK on one song. For my money, having those three on the same CD is worth way more than I paid! But every song is a wonderfully written ballad and beautifully performed by MK and his band. I honestly can't remember when I've enjoyed listening to a CD more (or so many times in a row)! I only regret that MK did not perform on this tour anywhere in Ohio!

Free Music Review: Good enough
Hit: 5 Stars

The album starts with "what it is", one the best track of the CD. There are some other great tracks like "silvertown blues", "speedway at nazareth" (has some wonderful guitaring). The title track with James Taylor and "the last laugh" with Van Morrison are nice colaborations. Beatles like "Who's your baby now" and superb "One more matinee" (no, i don't have the U.S. version) are also worth mention. The improvement over the Dire Straits albums is certainly the lyrics quality, but this album can't surpass the previous "Golden Heart" album which was so massive in terms of quality and variation. Still i think it is good enough to get a 5 star rating (although CD contains 2-3 mediocre tracks).
