Free Music Notes for Free to Be You & MeFree Music Review: Still wonderful after all these years Hit: 5 Stars
When I was a child in elementary school - back in the 70's, all the teachers played this album. It is a wonderful collection of poems and songs that tell children it's ok to be themselves and ok to show their feelings (It's alright to cry). When I mentioned that I bought the cd to a friend, she immediately started reciting the Baby Story - I am a girl- and both of us recited the poem (Carol Channing) telling little boys and little girls, when there is housework to be done, do it together. I wish that my daughter's teachers would have played this when she was in school. Instead, she gets to listen to it now with her mother who doesn't sing so well. Hopefully, she'll cherish these moments as much as I cherish sharing this cd with her.
Free Music Review: It stands the test of time Hit: 5 Stars
I first purchased this album on an 8 track when my children were very small. I have 2 boys and 2 girls so traveling in the car was challenging at times. When I put the music on from Free to be YOU and ME the kids just loved it. They listened to every cut . It soon became routine for any time we were in the car together. My kids are grown now and have children of their own. I recently purchased the new version on CD for each of them. I was not disappointed and neither were they. I got so much pleasure in getting the reactions from them.
It brought back wonderful feelings and good memories.
thank you for keeping this available, I recommend it
Free Music Review: a parent and kindergarten teacher Hit: 5 Stars
The music from Free to Be was the best music that my kids listened to as they were growing up. If you're interested in a cd that shows children how there are lots of different ways to be special, this is the cd for you. It's such a positive role model and it's so much fun to sing along with, too. I was watching Inside the Actor's Studio and when he asked Gwyneth Paltrow if she had any actors or actresses that she loved when she was little, she smiled and said that she really didn't, that she spent lots of time in her room singing along with her Free to Be, You and Me record. My kids did, too.
Free Music Review: Nostalgic and New Hit: 5 Stars
For those of us who grew up with "Free to Be...," this is great nostalgia. The songs and stories come right back. But you don't have to be from the era who first listened to this to enjoy it. My toddler son LOVES the songs and is starting to get into the stories as well. It's something he can grow into, giving him the sense that whoever he is, is just fine. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this CD and it goes great with the book. If you don't have the book yet, you might want to buy that too. The artwork by Peter H. Reynolds is AMAZING. Bottom Line: It's worth the money!
Free Music Review: If you're thinking about it, BUY IT!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I was given this ALBUM, yes vinyl, when it was originally released, back in the 70s. I loved it then and love it now. I bought the CD for my 3 year old daughter and she loves to listen to it. She can sing along with the songs and loves the little stories. This is a wonderful gift that will help kids understand how special and unique they are. I know it helped me realize we can all be different and all be special. It's fantastic and I can't say enough good things about it. By the way, I still have my album. I just can't part with it.
