When this album was released on vinyl in the 70s, my children listened to it repeatedly. Wondering if the content had become dated, I purchased it for my grandchildren for listening in the car. I'm delighted to report that they love it, requesting specific songs and narrations by CD track number. I'd forgotten how thought-provoking some of the pieces are. I taught grade school for thirty years. My first eight years of teaching were spent teaching second grade. This album was part of my curriculum. The children absolutely loved it, and so did I! It was fun and educational. It initiated discussions of social interaction and behavior.
I purchased this CD to bring back the wonderful memories of my first years of teaching. And it does just that! I still love listening to this CD!

I was so excited to buy this CD. It brought back so many memories from my childhood. The CD came with all of the words too just like my old record did. Unfortunately, my kids didn't love it like I did. My 8 year old called it "old time music." I think my 5 year old enjoyed it a little more but is likely to follow his older brother. I'm glad to have it on hand though as it was one of my favorites from when I was a little girl.Free Music Review: A great CD to teach kids, and parents

This is a really wonderful CD -- I've bought it many times for my friends' kids -- the music is really fun and funny -- so parents won't get bored -- and the topics teach about self-confidence, equality, and other important qualities in an enjoyable manner. You don't feel like you're being lectured to -- and it's the kind of CD a parent can listen to with his/her kids dozens of times without going out of their minds.Free Music Review: must have for little ones...

as a mother- my daughters listened to 'free to be'' over and over-and of course they still know all the words to every song. now as a grandmother, my grandchildren- 5 of them: boys and girls- also love this. i now make sure i buy this for all young ones- purchased 2 for christmas gifts this year...there are great messages in this , and i encourage everyone to get them - they are still very enjoyable for me!!
