Free Music Notes for It Won't Be Soon Before Long

Free Music Review: Great CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

In general, I hated Songs About Jane. This album is a great effort that takes this band in a different direction. Instead of a CD targeted towards love-sick sorority girls, this CD shows that even a boyish-faced lead singer can rock a little bit.

Free Music Review: More songs about love and loss, but with a new sound this time
Hit: 5 Stars

Did Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine grow tired of belting out songs about heartbreak for the band's first album, Songs About Jane? Apparently not! On their second CD release, It Won't be Soon Before Long, Maroon 5 continues to focus on stories of love gone wrong. But don't be fooled into thinking this album is simply Songs About Jane, Part 2, as there is plenty that sounds different and new here.

"Wake Up Call," the first single, is arguably the best song on the album. The brief but fast-paced opening riff grabs you right into the tune's gritty sound, with dark lyrics that recount a disturbing tale. Contrast this with the next track, "Won't Go Home Without You," a sadly soulful tune with more evocative lyrics--you'll definitely find this one running through your head. The sweeter, softer sound continues with the following song, "Nothing Lasts Forever" and then again on "Goodnight Goodnight." Several tunes on the album have an almost jazzy feel, especially the last two, "Better That We Break," and "Back at Your Door." "Makes Me Wonder," another of the album's singles, is another favorite of mine. Finally, the two songs I don't particularly care for are "Little of Your Time" (seemed too fast-paced, frenetic) and "Sweet Kiwi" (a non-distinctive, general pop sound).

Overall, this is another great album from what has turned out to be my favorite current band. Although I think I would still give Songs About Jane the slight edge, It Won't Be Soon Before Long is a solid offering in its own right, and I rate it 4 1/2 stars.

Free Music Review: Maroon 5 Gets Five Stars For This Album
Hit: 5 Stars

In the past, Maroon 5 just seemed another band which sounded like many others. Finally, the band got a little hipper with this release. The hit single, "Makes Me Wonder", is a crowd-pleaser. But, there are plenty of other songs which are equally good like "Goodnight Goodnight", "Kiwi", and "If I Never See Your Face". This new album infuses electric and funk which reminds me alot of Peter Gabriel and other 80's artists.

Free Music Review: heartbreaker
Hit: 5 Stars

Love the CD. As always Adam Levine writes about relationships gone bad...in varying degrees. Normally, that would be depressing (at least for me) but the lyrics are so well written and set so well, you can't dance along to his pain.

Free Music Review: Maroon5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long
Hit: 5 Stars

Maroon5's Songs About Jane was a good album and it spawned several hits that got a lot radio play. So when I saw this album in my local library, I decided to give it a try. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this album. It Won't Be Soon Before Long is so much better than Songs About Jane. The CD has good flow and I like the up tempo beat for the songs. I keep this album on my iPod all the time and listen to it a lot. It is great album that is foot tapping and body moving. Standout songs: If I Never See Your Face Again, Makes Me Wonder, Little of Your Time, Won't Go Home Without You, and Back At Your Door.
