Free Music Review: Jigs and reels

While the style of this music is a little different than ordinary reels or jigs -- not as loud, and a lot more soothing -- they are all still jigs and reels. Now, I like my own share of jigs and reels, among the hundreds that there are I've found a few special ones among the music of artists like Altan, Aine MInogue, and Eileen Ivers.
On this CD, there were a couple that touched a cord, otherwise no noteworthy songs. They are very pretty for background music purposes, maintaining a calm, pretty thread. The few instruments included make it less interesting but more uniform (thus more suited for background music).

It was once common for Irish musicians to record one tune at a time, to make each one a self-contained masterpiece. Coleman did it. Morrison did it.
