Free Music Notes for Under the MoonFree Music Review: fantastic irish folk instrumentals. Hit: 4 Starsi am not irish, and all i know about the fiddle is that i've seen a few of them in pictures here and there. but that does not disqualify me from reviewing this album! I know great sounding music when i hear it, and this recording sounds great beginning to end. all traditional irish folk music played mostly just as straight fiddle with acoustic guitar accompaniment (there is an accordian and concertina that make brief appearances), this is music filled with heart. i recommend it highly.
Free Music Review: One of the best... Hit: 5 Stars...Irish fiddle recordings I've ever heard. As a big fan of acts like Natalie MacMaster, Altan, and Lunasa, I was a little skeptical when I first heard of Hayes years ago. True, he may not have the quick, edgy riffs of MacMaster, or the great percussion of the latter two, but Martin Hayes brings a depth to this set of 13 tunes that is rare in Celtic music today. As he is only accompianied by a guitar, "Under The Moon" is a showcase for Hayes' great technique, touch, and dynamics. This is not so much a quick, flashy, "barnburner" affair as it is a slower, mellow, thoughtful suite of pieces. No question- 5 stars.
Free Music Review: Always a 5-star Fiddler...You can't go wrong... Hit: 5 StarsYou can't go wrong with Martin. A really nice guy, and a majorly talented Irishman. This man can take any Irish tune and make it sing. His style is smooth and lyrical, it can make you feel relaxed even while you're tapping your toe to the lively jigs and reels. You feel the emotion he puts into every note he plays. His slower tunes are just awsome! He carries you along on each note, making you anticipate the next. His playing is magic. He deserves 10 stars. This CD is a great collection. I also recommend his self titled CD Martin Hayes...If you love Irish fiddle, you won't be sorry.

He plays these tunes with such sensitivity and feeling I can't hear it enough!! If you love great Irish fiddling I can't recommend this recording enough... Martin takes the music to another level!!!
