Free Music Notes for Martina McBride - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
Martina McBride is maybe the most powerful singer of all time. When she sings holding a note, she sings it. Her voice just sends chills down my spine. The thing that really gets me about her, is that she's even more amazing live as she is on CD. This has all of her best songs on one CD. Here's a brief review for each song.1. My Baby Loves Me ~ This song is really cute, really fun. (Just like the video). But it doesn't show her talent as much as other songs. I still like it a lot, though. 2. Life #9 ~ This wasn't a real "hit" of hers, but I still really like it. It's really fun, it's real country. 3. Independence Day ~ This song is really powerful. It shows her talent in this song, but also her guts. It's a controversial song, and I admire her for doing it because she wanted to. It's a good video as well. 4. Strangers ~ This wasn't a real hit of hers, either, but I really like it. Her voice is so beautiful in this song. It's very powerful, too. 5. Safe In The Arms Of Love ~ This is a real feel-good song. It's very visual. Her voice sounds great in this song, too. I like the video has well. 6. Wild Angels ~ This is one of my favorites of Martina's. It's another feel-good song of hers. 7. Valentine ~ For some reason, this isn't my favorite song she does. It's really beautiful, though. The piano duet with Jim Brickman is really good. 8. A Broken Wing ~ This song is so amazing. The way she holds the note at the end of the song is so amazing. She sings it with a lot of strength. This is one of my favorites she does. The video's great. 9. Happy Girl ~ Martina does a lot of feel-good songs, and this is another one. It's real fun, yet shows talent. 10. Wrong Again ~ This one wasn't a big hit, either, but I like it. Her voice is beautiful in it. 11. Whatever You Say ~ Her voice is very powerful in this song. I like it a lot. The video's pretty good too. 12. I Love You ~ I heard this on the Runaway Bride Soundtrack and it's really good. Her voice is beautiful singing it, but it doesn't show all the talent she has. The video's really cool, too. 13. Love's The Only House ~ This is when I started liking Martina a little bit. The lyrics are really great and the way she sings it is amazing. Her voice is very beautiful and powerful. I like the video as well. 14. I knew Martina was one of my favorite singers when I heard her sing this at the CMA's. I forget which year. When she sang the part towards the end where she holds the note live, and sang it powerfully, I was blown away. I started buying her stuff and paying more attention to her after that. 16. When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues ~ This song is real bluesy, real powerful. It's a fun song, but I got sick of the video. It's better on the CD without the talking. (#15 is just an intro to this song). 17. Where Would You Be ~ Man, can this woman sing! This song is her latest hit and it shows her talent the most. It's probably my favorite of hers. It's a beautiful song, very powerful. And then when she sang it better live at the 2002 CMT Flameworthy Awards, I was even more blown away. This song will literally send chills down your spine. 18. Concrete Angel ~ This song is very emotional and Martina's voice is gorgeous. There's not much to say about this song except that it's beautiful. 19. Blessed ~ Not only is this one of my favorite songs of Martina's, but the video is a favorite as well. This is another feel-good song of hers. Very beautiful. If you're a Martina fan, don't even think about buying it. Just do it, I've listened to it tons of times, and I'm always looking forward to each song as I listen.

(5 stars) "Life #9": great... an up-tempo song about cheating, full of country dancing and two-stepping. (5 stars) "Independence Day": Martina's career hit... an excellent song against domestic violence and can be used for patriotic purposes. (5 stars) "Strangers": I love this song... but I am sad Martina never released it as a single. However, I'm glad she included it in this collection. Free Music Review: The Greatest "Greatest Hits" Hit: 5 Stars
Martina McBride, how does one sum her up? I don't think anything that I say can even bring her justice. Her voice is incredible, she's leagues beyond most every other country singer. She sings songs that matter instead of the average cookie-cutter songs. Needless to say...this CD is the GREATEST! The absolutely only thing that could have been better is if there were more songs on it. Of course, it was probably a huge challenge to choose the songs for the greatest hits, for Martina has always song such excellent songs, it's hard to choose the greastest...they are all worthy of being the greatest. Of course the disc contains all the big songs of her career so far, "My Baby Loves Me", "Wild Angels", "Valentine", "I Love You", "Whatever You Say", "Safe In The Arms Of Love", and of course what is known as her career song, "Independence Day". The power of this song about domestic violence is incredible. No one could have sung that song the way Martina could. Having all Martina's hits on one CD is great. The better part of this disc however, are the four new songs. Just when I thought she couldn't get any better after the material on her "Emotion" CD...well...I admit that I was wrong. And I'm glad of that! Martina is one of those artists who tops herself every time. "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues", the current single, is simply fun. It's got attitude and for anyone who says no one sings country music anymore...listen to that song! "Where Would You Be", I don't even know where to start...this song shows Martina's incredible vocal range. After you hear this song you'll know why many think Martina has the greatest voice on the planet. "Concrete Angel" is a song about child abuse. You won't be the same after you hear this song. You can't help but be affected by its message. This is because Martina sings with such emotion and you can feel that when she sings. "Blessed" is an uptempo number and makes you realized how lucky you are, even the small things matter ("I put my feet on the hard wood floor, I get to hear my children laughing down the hall through the bedroom door"). And I myself feel Blessed that there is a singer out there like Martina McBride who sings with such emotion and passion about real issues and things that matter, a woman who isn't afraid to speak up about social issues, a woman who cares about music. That is Martina McBride.
Free Music Review: About Dang Time! Hit: 5 Stars
Talk about torture. As an avid Martina McBride fan, I've been asking myself for a few years now why a greatest hit cd hasn't been released. I mean, c'mon, Martina is such a talent and she's scored some of the biggest hits of the last decade. She's well beyond the superstar status at this point and the obvious next step was a greatest hits release. Now, after years of waiting, we fans have finally got what we wanted. There are 15 hits plus 3 new ones on the cd, including the downright hilarious "When God-Fearing Women Get the Blues". Martina's biggest hits, starting with her first "My Baby Loves Me" are: "Life #9", "Wild Angels", "A Broken Wing", "Wrong Again", and "There You Are". There's also the more "poppier" and adult contemporary hits "I Love You" and "Valentine" (with Jim Brickman), which newer, younger fans will recognize. My favorite tunes on the cd are: "Safe In the Arms of Love", "Whatever You Say", and the controversial "Independence Day", which when first released caused such an uproar that some stations refused to play it. These three songs are Martina's best because they showcase her ability to put such power and emotion into the lyrics. For such a little thing, that gal sure can sing. She's got one of the strongest voices in the business and she isn't afraid to show it. Talk about a pair of lungs! Despite the fact that I gave the cd a 5-star rating, which it totally deserves, I have a big complaint. There are a few hits that weren't included on the cd that should've been, such as "Still Holding On" (with Clint Black), "Phones Are Ringing All Over Town", and "Cheap Whiskey". There's no way you can replace these tunes with such horrible ones like "Happy Girl" and "Love's the Only House", which in my opinion are not Martina's strongest songs. Other than that one little complaint, the cd is worth buying. If you're an older fan looking to get all of your favorites on one disk, this is for you. If you're a new fan trying to catch up on everything you've missed, this is the place to start. Gennie Bailey-Rogers
