this album is so good, i listen to it all the time. even if you have all martina's albums, you should still buy this, because you'll get four new tracks (plus a new intro to one of the new songs)! also included,(in the booklet) is martina's insight on all the tracks, and her producer paul's insight as well. this is
a must have album.
1. My Baby Loves Me - fun, upbeat song. (4/5)
2. Life #9 - okay, not her best (3/5)
3. Independence Day - amazing. (5/5)
4. Strangers - not great, gets borning after a while (2/5)
5. Safe In The Arms Of Love - so good, i LOVE this song (5/5)
6. Wild Angels - great track, fun to sing to. (5/5)
7. Valentine (Feat.Jim Brickman)- great piano by Jim. Martina sounds beautiful, as always. (4.5/5)
8. A Broken Wing - her vocals just blow me away on this track

9. Happy Girl - fun, and bouncy. always puts me in a good mood (3/5)

18. Concrete Angel - wow. MY FAVORITE SONG EVER BY MARTINA! such a sad song, but so amazing, you have to listen to this song, i would buy the whole album just for this track! this song is beautiful, and so is its video (10+/5!!)

Free Music Review: Martina is one of country's greatest ladies!

They say a greatest hits album marks a turning point in an artist's career. Well, if that's true, then Martina sure has gone from country artist to history-making country diva! This album highlights Martina's most spectacular songs of her decade long career. A favorite of many fans, and one who people will remember her by as her trademark song, is "Independence Day", a very moving and thought-provoking song about domestic violence. At the time it was released, she was on the edge of controversy. Her strong, emotional voice reveals the emotion involved with spousal abuse. Another wonderful song on the album is "Wild Angels", a very catchy tune that will get you singing lyric after lyric of beautiful music. "Valentine" is a hopeless romantic's best song to listen to. "Happy Girl" is a fast tune that just makes you feel happy! Many of you may recognize "I Love You" from the movie Runaway Bride. Another movie tune is "There You Are" from the movie Where the Heart Is. Martina's voice is so beautiful and womanly, yet her voice has the power to knock you off your feet! This album is definitely worth the buy, just for the 14 previously recorded hits. You will absolutely love the independant woman singing songs like "Life #9", "Wrong Again", "Whatever You Say" and "A Broken Wing". However, it is also worth it to buy it just for the four brand new songs on the album if you already own all her other albums. The new bluesy, rhythmic, fast hillbilly sound of "When God Fearin' Women Get the Blues" will get your feet tapping, fingers snapping and singing along whether you want to or not! "Blessed" is a wonderful conclusion to Martina's Greatest Hits by making us all remember that we are blessed with what we have. I think of the song as a sort of as a 'thank you' to all of her fans that have supported her for the last decade or for all her new fans that she welcomes to this album. When I first heard "Great Hits" in my cousin vehicle I thought that it would be a great cd to buy. It had all her best songs on it that had came out to that date. Martina McBride is one of my favorite artists. She has been singing country or many years. This cd came out in September 18,2001. The cd cost $13.99 on amazon.com. "Greatest Hits" has sold millions of copies to this date.
If you have read what people think about this they like what they hear. Martina writes about what is going on in real life. She has emotional songs and happy songs. I would give this cd 5 start. Concrete Angel is a song that touched my heart every time I listen to it. It is down to earth I could listen to it over and over.
Martina has came out with 7 cd's before this cd. The name of the cd's are, "The Time Has Come", "The Way That I Am", "Wild Angels", "Evolution", "Martina McBride Christmas", Emotion', and "White Christmas". Her last cd that has came out is "Martina". When ever I read reviews from this cd they give it 5 stars once in awhile you will see 4 stars. This album was in the top 50 charts.
When you hear these songs, they say so much. How they talk about parents that have problems. Martina has a beautiful voice and she really uses it in this album. Martina has won 3 best female vocalist awards.

Free Music Review: One of music's best vocalists...of all time!

Martina McBride is a powerhouse. You could run the Eastern Seaboard on her voice. She takes even the most redundant songs (seen here in "There You Are," "Happy Girl," and "Life #9"), and makes them not only listenable, but flat-out enjoyable. She's probably one of country's best singers (male or female) of all time.Now there's this album. Not all of it's high class stuff, of "Independence Day" caliber. "Concrete Angel" tries, but after hearing it a hundred million times on the radio, it's not so moving (at least, not in a good way). And "Blessed" is just so blissful, you gotta wonder about where that happiness is coming from.
But other tunes stand out in a good way. "My Baby Loves Me" is a toe-tappin romp; "Valentine," a duet with pianist Jim Brickman, is beautiful; "A Broken Wing" lets Martina's voice soar like no other song on here. "When Got Fearin' Women Get the Blues" is not only an opportunity for Martina to get in a little snide kick or two at society, but it also showcases Leslie Satcher's superb songwriting skills. "Whatever You Say" has some of the best instrument work done in a nineties country song, while "Wild Angels" just forces you--probably at gunpoint--to sing along.
"Greatest Hits" features, predictably, some of Martina's greatest hits (although, if I am to understand, "Strangers" was not a single; I still don't think it should've been included here, though, as it isn't too memorable). My personal song preferences may not coincide with yours; you have to admit, however, that Martina McBride could sing a cookbook on a sweltering August day, and you'd still say it was the best show of your life. Buy this album, if you want proof that there really IS talent on today's airwaves.
