Free Music Notes for Martina McBride - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: A Great CD from a powerful singer Hit: 5 Stars
Martina McBride has the ability to be one of the few singers who can easily bounce between the fast songs, such as I Love You, and the ballads, like A Broken Wing. Blessed with one of the best voices in any genre of music, not just in the country music world, it almost seems like there isn't a song that she couldn't sing. There are two songs on this collection that totally amazed me, There You Are, from the Emotion CD, has a lot of power in it, just from her vocal performance alone. One of the new songs, Where Would You Be, displays one of the rawest shows of emotion from any song in recent years. The only thing that overshadows the emotion of the song, is the vocal performance that Martina displays on this song. It is truly her best song, both performance wise and emotionally. There may be a lot of popular country singers, but no one else could put forth a performance to match Martina's. A devoted fan, I couldn't wait for this CD to be released, and I wasn't dissappointed. A great collection from a great singer, a CMA Female Vocalist, even. It doesn't get much better.
Free Music Review: Country Music's Dynamic Performer Has Done It! Hit: 5 Stars
Yes, finally for all of us Martina McBride fans we have a greatest hits collection to cherish! Truly country's top female vocalist, she provides all the "goodies" and some new future hits on her first greatest hits collection. Just as Kenny Chesney's greatest hits has been so popular, I expect this one will be too with both country and pop fans. Essentials like Independence Day, Valentine, I Love You, A Broken Wing, Whatever You Say, Love's The Only House, My Baby Loves Me---etc...---they are all here, trust me. Even one that Martina says should have been a hit called Strangers had it been released correctly by her management at the time as a follow-up to Independence Day is here. Three new cuts (Blessed, Where Would You Be and future hit Concrete Angel) are a part of this 19 track explosive set! Hard to believe that country's top female vocalist for the past several years has only one CMA vocalist award to show for it, isn't it! Her beauty, vocals and emotion she places in her songs are unmatched in country music today. This one is a must have.
Free Music Review: Martina Is Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
Martina McBride is one of the best vocalists of any genre and country music is very lucky to have her. Her Greatest Hits CD is awesome. There are 17 of her chart hits: My Baby Loves me, Life #9, Independence Day, Safe In The Arms Of Love, Wild Angels, Valentine, A Broken Wing, Happy Girl, Wrong Again, Whatever You Say, I Love You, Love's The Only House, There You Are, When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues, Where Would You Be, Concrete Angel, and Blessed. There is also a fan favorite but unreleased song called Strangers and the intro to When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues. Included in the liner notes are Martina and the producer's thoughts and comments on each song. They talk about what they would change, their initial reaction to the demos, etc. This CD is a must-have even if you're not familiar with Martina's music. She is just as good if not better than Whitney Houston. And Mariah Carey's overrated, no good, hoarse singing can't even begin to compare to the passion and range of Martina. Martina McBride's Greatest Hits definitely deserves five stars!
Free Music Review: Greatest hit album is a runaway success Hit: 5 Stars
Martina McBride has vowed the country afficionados with hits like "My Baby Loves Me", the beautiful rendition "Valentine" with Jim Brickman, the mellifluously exuberant radio-hit "I Love You" - just to name a few. Her self-entitled greatest hits album is a pleasant surprise for fanatics who have bypassed her past ebullient efforts eg. Stranger, Wild Angels and the outrageous Independence Day and Love's the only house - the latter displaying McBride's steely grasp on the paean of destitution. "Concrete Angel" not previously released touches on the agony of child abuse and is emoted sublimely by McBride's stunning vocals. Her new singles on the album glosses the attraction - and with 19 whopping singles in one shot, it's no wonder that Martina McBride's latest offering is a runaway success. However - it's still the singer not the song. Ms. McBride has matured her vocal skills over the decade and her greatest hits album has charted her dramatic progress so far. It's a must-buy for astute country folks listeners.
Free Music Review: The Essential Martina McBride Hit: 5 Stars
Finally! A compilation of Martina McBride's hits. Her voice continues to amaze me with every new recording, she continues to break new ground and push the boundaries in country music, while not straying too far at all. All of her big hits are here in their glory, such as My Baby Loves Me, I Love You, Wild Angels, Valentine, There You Are, and social relevant songs like Independance Day (perhaps her career song) and Love's The Only House, plus way more! 19 songs total, with four new tracks. When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues is a song packed with attitude, a surefire hit. Where Would You Be is a touching song, with the vocal powerhouse you'd come to expect from Martina. Concrete Angel is another social issue song, about child abuse, offering a glimmer of hope with the girl's dreams, very sad and touching at the same time. Blessed is an uptempo, positive, start your day song, it'll put you in a good mood. This album is a perfect representation of Martina's career to this date, and offers a glimpse of the future with the new songs. A must have.
