Free Music Notes for Waking Up LaughingFree Music Review: Another winner for Martina Hit: 5 Stars
I have just finished listening to the final track of the latest offering from Martina. Although I am not her biggest fan, this album in my humble opinion is her best work ever. "House Of A Thousand Dreams" takes me back to my childhood and the dreams my parents (both gone now) and I had in our house of dreams. "Tryin To Find A Reason" just speaks to the pain and suffering endured by many young couples today. What can be said about "Love Land", except that its' for everyone in love pregnant and, married or not. "How I Feel", Oh wow, I envision my wife of 48 years and that piece just shouts out to me. "Anyway" This piece just soars and soars, and just highlights the power and range her voice. "I'll Still Be Me"; This song just expresses everything people who have been fortunate enoough to have remained married or together for many years feel about each other.I could go on and on but suffice it to say I can't find one song on this album to critize. Although this is not a "country album" per se; WHO CARES??? This woman has a spectacular voice and a range that will carry her on and someday she will be in the company of the truly great country singers like Dolly Parton and Trisha Yearwood. Way to go Martina

Free Music Review: Superb Hit: 5 Stars
I have to admit that I am not a big county music buff nor am I a big Martina Mcbride expert. So, I do not know much of her past music. I know a few of her really big hits and that's about it.
I was flipping through the channels on the TV and caught the video for "Anyway" and was blown away by the lyrics and the powerful voice. I had to wait until the end of the video to see who the artist was. It was Martina. I then saw her on the most recent American Idol (coaching the contestants) and saw her perform and ran out and got this CD right away.
I am so glad that I did.
This CD is GREAT! She has a beautiful voice and all the songs on here have so much emotion and are very melody driven. It makes me want to check into her older material.
The CD kicks off with greatness with "If I Had Your Name" with some great guitar, flawless vocals and great harmonies!! Which seems to be the case on all the songs on the track listing. Martina's voice shines throughout this CD from start to finish.
She has gained a new fan in me. I am going to have to pick up more from her collection.
Highly recommended!

Free Music Review: A very bland Pop album Hit: 5 Stars
"Anyway" and "Everybody Does" are the only songs that come close to Country music on this album. The rest is 100% pure bland cheesy Pop.
Martina continues to prove that she is not a Country singer, and not much of a singer in general, tending to either under- or over-sing the songs, never quite getting it right.
She showed a lot of promise as a Country-pop star with "Independence Day", "How Far" and "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues", and went 100% Traditional for the "Timeless" album, but has sadly fallen back to the light-Pop that has made her a star.
It's sad that young people (and I am only 20 years old myself) are being brought up to think of albums like this as being Country music while ignoring the classics and todays Real Country. She even duets with Rock star Keith Urban on one track of this album!
If Martina wants to have any credibilty as a Country artist, she needs to start recording Timeless II.
If you want to hear real Country music, go out and find albums by Carrie Underwood, George Strait, George Jones, Kellie Pickler and Alan Jackson. Don't accept this tripe instead of the real thing.
Free Music Review: One Of Her Best Albums Yet! Hit: 5 Stars
Waking Up Laughing is the first album that Martina has written songs for and she produced it on her own(she is well able for it too)
This is such a beautiful collection of heart - rendering songs that you will simply fall in love with.
Martina always picks and now writes songs that make you feel so many different emotions and songs that you can relate to.Like the standout power ballad Anyway to the fantastic uptempo Everybody Does(you will so connect with this one). She starts off the album with a brilliant kiss off song If I Had Your Name filled with a cracking fiddle and electric guitar solo.Another sweet song is Beautiful Again(about hope). There's also her gorgeous ballad Tryin' To Find A Reason which features Keith Urban on harmonies.
She ends the album with 2 very inspiring songs. The family themed House Of A Thousand Dreams and the beautiful Love Land(about love conquring all)I particularly love that she sings this in her gorgeous low soft voice.
You have to have this in your collection,it's such a stunning album from Martina-yet again!!I can't wait for her next one...
Free Music Review: Brilliant CD !! Hit: 5 Stars
There are some artists whose albums I buy without even hearing a note. Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and especially TRACE ADKINS, TRAVIS TRITT and RANDY TRAVIS. There are very few female artists who I buy as I usually only end up liking 2-3 tracks. Martina McBride is changing that and becoming one of those artists who I automatically buy.
Here in NZ we don't have country radio stations so we don't get to hear new tracks and artists unless we do so online (which I do). In some ways this is great because we don't hear songs thrashed until all the meaning and life have been wrung out of them.
Having said all that, Waking up crying is a great CD. I played it through 4 times without skipping through any tracks. I loved every track. Although 1 or 2 were a bit "poppy" it just shows Martina's versatility. My all time favourites are I'll still be me, Love land, House of a thousand dreams and of course the track Anyway which gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
5++ for this album which will not disappoint new and old fans
