Free Music Notes for Country MusicFree Music Review: Fair at best Hit: 3 StarsI never thought I'd write a "less than stellar" review of Marty Stuart, but this is Marty's worst album, and lacks any real feeling or drive. Of course, Marty's instrumental work remains absolutely flawless....if it has strings, Marty is the king. But the selection and composition of these songs are definately not up to par. The first single, a different take on Porter Wagoner's classic "Satisfied Mind" is actually quite good, and misleadingly fills the listener with anticipation of like-minded songs to follow. But, it aint so. Seems like quite a bit of filler material here (perhaps previously discarded tracks), although there is a fine duet with Merle Haggard, "Farmer's Blues" and a tongue-in-cheek number, "Too Much Month". I give it a C-. Let's hope there are no repeats of this effort.
Free Music Review: Marty Stuart Hit: 1 StarsThis was the wrong album. I ordered Marty Stuart's "Honky
Tonkin's What I Do Best"
Free Music Review: You do not have to be a country & western fan to like this. Hit: 5 StarsAlthough the Marty Stewart fans should have this album already, others may not have heard much about this album since it does not seem to be getting much airplay. Marty's music is thoroughly modern, yet is not crossover that abandons its country roots. Although I am primarily a rock fan, I am sure that this album that would be well received by anyone who likes good music. I currently have five Marty Stuart albums and this album has to be the best Marty Stuart yet. For those not yet familiar with Marty Stuart, this is the "introductory" album to buy. The disk's sonics are great (Columbia knows a few things about making a good recording) and the release currently includes a DVD with video clips, background on the album, and interview with Marty, who describes what was going on in his mind. Well worth the investment.
Free Music Review: The Marty Party is BACK! Hit: 5 StarsI just received my copy of "Country Music". I think it is one of the best recordings Marty Stuart has ever made. I've loved him since I was in high school. Now I sit back and watch my children play while listening to this great music collection. His first single "If There Ain't There Ought'a Be" reminds me of the fun loving songs from his "Tempted" and "Marty Party" CDs. The song "Here I Am" is a sultry song that makes me want to sit on the front porch late at night cuddling with my man. "By George" makes you want to get up off that porch and dance as cars drive by! As a fan and lover of country music, Marty Stuart is one of many musicians out there that have stayed true to their roots. His compassion for his music and life really comes through in this CD. It's a must for every "country music" fan. If there was a 10 star rating, I'd give it! Enjoy!
Free Music Review: If Country Music Ain't This Good...It Ought To Be.... Hit: 5 StarsMarty follows up his opus "The Pilgrim" with a perfect blend of country-rock. Some will criticize that he did not follow up "The Pilgrim" with a more serious, reflective project. HOGWASH. The Pilgrim was a once in a lifetime experience. "Country Music" is Marty at his hillbilly rock best.
