Free Music Review: Oh, ohohoh...oh!
Hit: 5 Stars

If Butch and the boys meant for ReadySexGo to be a virtual orgasm for the ears, then they've succeeded. The third effort from the now-broken Marvelous 3 is by all means the best. It's hard to choose favorites on this album because it's meant to be listened to as a whole, from the way tracks one and two are tied together to the ending track, Cigarette Lighter Love Song, which basically contrasts the rest of the CD. Throughout the tracks the M3 take out their frustrations through the music, ripping apart the fakes that inhabit the world, the women that have ****ed them over, and the rocker lifestyle. Even as they're pouring out their caffinated hearts to the helpless listener, describing nearly unsolvable problems, you want to dive right in to this life that they're singing about. Then with the ending track, Butch pours out his heart in a gorgeous song about love that's clearly reached an end, and as it starts with Butch and a piano and continues through as a rocking ballad, you know that these are the feelings that are so cleverly disguised in the sarcastic, intelligent, and fun lyrics that make up the rest of the album. It's impossible to resist a band that doesn't take themselves seriously, that's ok with singing, "Can we take it to the bridge and skip the part about the fridge/where she keeps her cold heart by a stale pop-tart," and then ends it all with a serious love song. For more like this, get Butch's solo, Left of Self-Centered, another fantastic mix of irrelavance and emotions.

Free Music Review: The Marvies have done it again!
Hit: 5 Stars

"In a world where rock music is slowly going the way of the Caribou. . ." (from ReadySexGo) And it is. I can't even emphasize how much crap is played on the radio today. And what has become of MTV? ::shakes her head sadly:: The Marvelous 3 are a good representation of old rock that hasn't sold out. This is a phenomenal band that has been around for awhile, but has not made it "big"? Why? Because they refuse to compromise their style and it shows in a "big" way on their 3rd album, ReadySexGo. I didn't think they could top Hey! Album. . .but they did. This collection of songs is edgier, and even more innovative than its predecessor. Didn't think Butch's writing could get any more cheeky or clever? Wrong. . .it did. Songs like "I'm Losing You", "Grant Park" and "Cigarette Lighter Love Song" will blow you away with their creativity, while numbers like "Beautiful" and "Get Over" will remind you of the Marvies of old. This album is perfect whether you're a long-time fan, or someone whose never heard of them before. It captures the energy of their live show more than Hey! Album, although still is no substitute for the real thing. Get this cd, get it now. . .then see the band live. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Free Music Review: More incredible music from an incredible band
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought "ReadySexGo" with extremely high expectations. "Hey Album!" was my favorite album last year, and after hearing versions of "Grant Park" and "Sugarbuzz" on the radio and at live shows (which are also unreal), I was setting myself up for a letdown with the high hopes I had set for this album. I was not disappointed. As a child of the 80's and an 80's music fanatic, I absolutely love the perfect mixture of modern rock and 80's pop that the Marvelous 3 have now mastered on 3 solid albums. There is not a bad track on this one, but real standouts include "Grant Park", "Get Over", and "Cigarette Lighter Love Song". The absolute high point of this album, however, has got to be "I'm Losing You", which put a smile on my face that still isn't gone. There is actually a second version of this song without the heavy lead guitar hidden after Track 14, which is a cool bonus. All in all, you would have to be crazy not to pick this one up, and I insist you buy "Hey Album!" as well if you haven't already. And don't miss the 3 when they come to your town!

Free Music Review: Marvelous 3? Amazing!
Hit: 5 Stars

I loved the old Marvelous 3, and I never wanted them to change. I bought this album and listened to it. I was crushed, they changed. I listened to it about three more times and realized this: "Oh My Gosh, this is better than 'Hey! Album'." I guess it just took some getting used to. Catchy Lyrics and Guitar riffs resume. The difference is more rock and less pop.

The rock is helped by guest apperances by Yogi (from Buckcherry) and Jeremy Popoff (from Lit) doing guitar solos in "Radio Tokyo" and "Get Over," respectivley. Other guest apperances include Brad Pitt (no joke), Jennifer Lopez, Paul Stanley, and two members of Injected (the band they recently signed and went on tour with).

There is more piano in this album, which is good. I like that.
They sound a lot like Cheap Trick (and Tsar) on this album. They have an interpolation of "All The Young Dudes" by David Bowie in "Cigarette Lighter Love Song", which is one of the best tracks on the album.

5 stars.
Best Songs (in no particular order): Get Over, Grant Park, Sugarbuzz, Radio Tokyo, and Cigarette Lighter Love Song

Free Music Review: The Last for Marvelous 3 and Easily the Best
Hit: 5 Stars

It is a shame that Marvelous 3 disbanded due to a dispute with their record label. Granted if they did not, we wouldn't have Butch Walker as a solo artist, but they were a great band in their day. READYSEXGO! is an amazing album that is easily their crowning glory. Marvelous 3 has always managed to straddle the line between poppy lyrics/melodies and substantial songwriting. A band that you would expect to be about as shallow as a wading pool is surprisingly not. Their creative synthesis of pop and rock is worthy of any music connoisseurs collection.

My personal favorite happens to be a fan favorite, a phenomenon that doesn't happen that often. "Cigarette Lighter Love Song" managed to transcend Marvelous 3 and is played at Butch Walker shows constantly to date because fans love the song so much. Songs on this album have a certain staying power that you won't find with most artists in this genre. It really is a shame that Marvelous 3 broke up, because they had figured out what every artist hopes to.
