Free Music Notes for ReadysexgoFree Music Review: Too Much of Too Much......... Hit: 4 Stars
I went into listening to this cd with the mindset that Butch Walker could do no wrong, but it seems to me that some of the songs sound too much alike. This is a good album nevertheless. The production sound is great and the guitars sound amazing, but ReadySexGo just lacks the inspiration of previous works. A couple of standout songs are "Little Head" "Grant Park" and "Radio Tokyo". Just a little overblown on the whole "bringin' back the rock" deal..a couple too many "We Will Rock You" style songs drag this down, but Butch Walker's cocky delivery and wry lyrics will always be better that what the average rock band can muster....... Could be stronger, but in power pop..there's no one better.
Free Music Review: very nice Hit: 4 Stars
A couple of years ago, this would have received 5 stars from me. I miss this band, and I wish they wouldn't have went their seperate ways. Anyway, the album is full of all sorts of fun. Hysterical lyrics are present in every song. Great emphasis on sexual innuendo and 80's themes. Great vocals, great guitar hooks, many very special guest appearances, musical and otherwise (he even got Bowie!!!). This has power rock stamped all over it in my opinion. It is a total departure from the power pop of their previous release, the HEY! Album. Better songs, better quality, even funnier. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to have a laugh while listening to great music.
Free Music Review: catchy melodies and clever lyrics make this a winner Hit: 4 Stars
I have been following this band for years now. With their newest release ReadySexGo, they stick with the formula which has won rave reviews all over the country; catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and high energy. Each song has a way of sticking with you throughout the day, but not one really stands out above another. So you may find yourself singing a new song each day! The lyrics are as clever as ever, which add a new element to the listening enjoyment. And the energy is more evident on this album than in the others, even though nothing can compare to a live Marvelous 3 show. I highly recommend this CD for anyone that truly enjoys rock music.
Free Music Review: Heavier Elvis Costello Hit: 4 Stars
Like the Hey! Album CD, ReadySexGo is riddled with great hooks and vocals. This band is reminiscent of a harder version of Elvis Costello complete with interesting lyrical turns of phrase. In addition, there are occasional touches of Queen-like vocals and guitars ("Radio Tokyo"). If you enjoy guitar driven, catchy power pop that is instantly hummable, give this disc a listen.
Free Music Review: Fun Rock n Roll Hit: 4 Stars
Love the lyrics, campy and fun and a bit cliche with quite a bit of raunch thrown in seemingly just to make it harder to get radio play. The "Credits" bonus track is fun once, but kinda lame after that. Too bad they broke up.
