Free Music Review: Love Matt Costa! Hit: 5 StarsI like his other CD (Songs we Sing) a bit better, but this one is great, too!
Free Music Review: Sweet sound! Hit: 5 StarsMatt has shown tremendous growth as a musician and definitely shows an awesome amount of growth. He's really starting to round out his sound!
Free Music Review: A More Evolved Matt Costa Hit: 4 StarsThis album went above and beyond my expectations for Matt Costa's sophomore release. I really enjoyed his first album and various EPs and was hoping this album would be as good as his first. Many musicians seem to release their best material on their first album and their subsequent albums come up short and I was concerned this curse would befall Matt. Well, this album is better than his first. Most of the songs are classic Matt Costa songs but there are a few stand out songs that go beyond anything Matt Costa has previously recorded.
So why not 5 stars? Well a couple of the songs seem artificially long. That is they would be better 3 minute songs than 4+ minute songs. One spot in the album where I find it difficult not to press the skip button is about 4 minutes into "Emergency Call", especially sense "Vienna" is the next track and one of the best songs on the album.
Overall I am very impressed with this album and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good music.
Free Music Review: Trying to lose my mind Hit: 5 StarsThe song "Trying to lose my mind" sounds like the inspiration for the album. Part of the lyrics for this song say "a girl I knew only liked the old bands". Matt Costa's third album has a little bit of what made the "oldies" great but does those sounds better.
Absolutely great album. Kudos to Matt Costa!
