Free Music Notes for Phantom: The American Musical Sensation (1992 Studio Cast)Free Music Review: As powerful dramatically as it is musically Hit: 5 StarsWhen I first bought this soundtrack several years ago, I was impressed with the variety of mood, tone, and lyrics. The music was very moving and powerful. I then came across a copy of the script. Reading it while listening to the music gave me even more of an appreciation - the story is well crafted and characters have depth and dimension. And in the last year I have been fortunate enough to see two productions of this "Phantom," both of which left me with tears in my eyes (even though I by now knew the songs and script fairly well). Truly a great musical.
Free Music Review: outstanding vocals; touching, gorgeous music and lyrics Hit: 5 StarsAs a pit orchestra performer for community productions, I like to "study" the music by listening to the soundtrack. This soundtrack is very true to the orchestration we are playing. And if one could fall in love with a man strictly for the quality of his voice, I'd be head-over-heels in love with Richard White.
Free Music Review: It's okay Hit: 4 StarsI give a four for good music. I'm afraid it is twisted horribly. The music is wonderful, but I recommend the Lloyd Webber version over this one. there are many beautiful songs, such as You Are My Own (one way it's twisted), and You ARe Music. they're both very nice to listen to. Free Music Review: Richly melodic, beautifully sung. Hit: 5 StarsThis music has a rich French character. The story is more psychologically probing than the Lloyd Webber book. I recommend this recording because the music is rich, satisfying and beautiful, but also because Richard White's extraordinary singing makes his numbers a spiritual experience. Glory Crampton also delivers a lovely, strong soprano voice. This is a beautiful recording with a memorable score.
Free Music Review: More heart than Andrew Lloyd Webber's Hit: 5 StarsExcellent book musical. I have seen Civic Light productions of it. A shame that it was overshadowed by Webber's. A smaller scale production but much better written book and songs. A definite for musical buffs...Richard White (as the Phantom) lends his beautiful voice to this recording. He also voiced Gaston in Disney's film version of Beauty and the Beast.
